Can you view a Webcam over LAN?
I need to be able to share a webcam so that I can view it over the LAN.
Basically this is for an expo coming up, the webcam is a good way to demonstrate certain features of some of our products.
Anyone have any idea how to do this? I did google and have tried 3 different programs so far, with no luck. Using MSN or Yahoo isn't an option, this must be a LAN share, not posting to HTTP website or similar...
Please helps?

Should be pretty much the same for the MS based port.
Or use google mentioning Webcam and VLC.

Ok cool got it working. VLC has a limitation though - my supplier has an IP camera setup at their support office in Sweden, where you can view the office and also controls lights remotely, handy for testing whether or not you have a working VPN.
Anyway, access to this camera requires login credentials which cannot be supplied to VLC, therefore I couldn't establish a connection. WebcamXP works fine for this though, so there's an alternative.
Thanks for the help, send me ur email addy's and I'll send as promised lols

Dude , a webcam has no IP and thus connot be viewed across any network. Using VLC or remote desktop takes you to the stream . Does not bring the stream to you. *aggem* TCP : transfer control protocol ..... No TCP / NO stream.

Unless you have a webcam with a built in FTP server which you can assign an IP address to like THIS ONE
