So far, I know of the following threads where this error occurs:
ATI vs nVIDIA
English Spam Thread
I'll be attempting to sort those two threads out at 22:00 this evening. Please note that the Hardware and Chillout sections will be temporarily closed while I do this. They shouldn't be closed for too long though.
If there are any other threads where this happens, please post about it here.
A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.
Timothy Casey
AMD vs Intel thread seems to have the problem as well...
JUSTICE, n A commodity which is a more or less adulterated condition the State sells to the citizen as a reward for his allegiance, taxes and personal service.
No, Ron, not good enough. You need to wait till you are the only person online, around 4:00 am tomorrow, I'd guess, and do it then. You may not inconvenience us in this manner!
OI! No spamming!, this topic is to help Ron find those annoying threads with "No Posts Exists" so please take the spam to the spam threads or pm...

OK, I've given this a go - but I don't think I've solved it this time.
Let me explain - in the database, there's a table for topics, and in that table a field stating how many replies the topic has received. I was guessing that the value stored in the replies field was incorrect, creating the impression that there were more replies than there actually were - and this is, what I thought, what was causing the problem.
However, I've just done some digging around in the database, and found the topic reply fields for the topics mentioned in this thread to be as they should be. I gave both Hardware and Chillout a forum resync, but I don't know if that's going to work.
You guys are welcome to give me feedback if the problem has stopped or if it's still going on. The problem now is that if it's still happening, it may only be resolved with the phpBB 3 migration, which is still a while off.
It looks that at some point or other, some users were deleted from the database. What happens in these cases is that posts made by these users are converted to guest posts. And this is where the problem is...
In your typical phpBB installation, the anonymous user has a user ID of -1. However, we're running PHP-Nuke on this site, and that uses the value of 1 for the anonymous user's user ID. Whoever ported phpBB to the PHP-Nuke platform obviously didn't realise this.
I believe that this is the cause of the problem with the "no posts exist for this topic" error in a few of the threads - the posts with non-existent user IDs are being ignored by viewtopic.php, yet they are still there.
I haven't fixed it yet; I'll need to discuss internally what the best way of fixing this is.
W00t! Proceed rapidly with said internal discussions. Though if the average admin/mod is anything like me they'll all stare blankly at you and say, "Do whatever you think is best, Ron."
