Sadness for Wii (Yes it is on its way)
Sadness for Wii (Yes it is on its way)
Sadness is the first Wii title to be presented entirely in black and white and is in development, by Poland based game studio Nibris using the Gamebryo graphics engine. According to Nibris head Piotr Orłowski, the story will deal with themes like, narcolepsy, nyctophobia and paranoid schizophrenia. Players will need to confront their greatest fears and protect themselves in hopes of not getting trapped inside the main character’s nightmares. The game has eight different extreme endings each with their own premise, which are assigned to a player based on specific factors during the game.
According to a Nibris press release, the action of Sadness will be placed before World War I in a Slavic country, the game is meant to scare the player by atmosphere and not by violence or blood. Sadness will not have any in game menu system or HUD. Unlike pretty much every other game on the market. Nibris is attempting to amplify the horrific aspects of their game by making the world as realistic and immersive as possible. Making for a frighteningly real non linear game. To compliment the intense gameplay, the Wiiremote and Nunchuk controls the main character’s hands so players feel as though they are the actual characters in the game.
Nibris was supposed to be revealing the first media of Sadness before the end of last year, but after a lot of trouble regarding a leaked footage that was supposed to be for internal purposes only. The company went completely underground and has only just popped its head back up for air, revealing some in game footage and concept art.
I have to say that I’m pretty excited about this game, despite the fact that I haven’t seen that much about it. All of the concept art looks good though. I hope that they can pull it off, they seem to be a really creative new company and I’d like to see them succeed.
