Looking at another Mobo...Input please
Looking at another Mobo...Input please
Hi Guys,
I currently have a Striker II Formula (780i). Do you think switching to a DFI Mobo with Intel X48 chipset will provide more O/C headroom for the future?
edit: Might also look at Asus Maximus Extreme (X38)
Doob, you seem to be the DFI man, please share some thoughts.
I am specifically looking at the DFI Lanparty LT X48-T2R or DFI Lanparty Dark DK X48-T2RS.
P.S FireStrm, dont get too excited yet...
Thanks,
MM

If overclocking is your game then yes.... quality chipsets are currently expensive as is the case with anything thats of decent quality.StoneIce wrote:Do you think it is worth to buy more than R3000 on a mobo ?

My view on things is, you get what you pay for...
Will the DFI Boards support my SLI Setup though?
Maximus Extreme also looks tempting

Madmike stick with you Asus, DFI as mentioned is only for ATI cards, Which does suck.
But DFI do have alot more headroom for overclocking, but the top boards on the ripping.org are ASUS,
DFI are alot more temperamental, when it comes to tweaking etc, ask Seth on SS, hes know a ***** lot about DFI.
If you go for a single gfx card solution then maybe try find a 8800Ultra and then get a DFI. But then again Rather not waste money bud.
Stick with what you have and tweak more. thats where the fun lies, and where tempers file. Overclocking is about testing and failing , and it takes more testing to get a good result. Ask the top overclockers on Systemshock.
Oh and these:
DFI Lanparty LT X48-T2R or DFI Lanparty Dark DK X48-T2RS.
They arent great for high FSB, ask Vivi on SS. If you can get a P35 DFI either the DK series or the Lanparty like mine. I've already gotten 560FSB on it using Killerbytes E6300, which imo is a gem chip. 100 % overclocked it.
The x48 i think Vivi said they do like 515 or so FSB, might be wrong, will check the XS forum to see what FSB the guys overseas are getting...
Otherwise stick with ur rig for now mate.

my pockets gonna hurt next month, 2 gts's, a p180, a dremel and some perpsex.... then tons of elbow grease... i saw on performance-pcs they have pre modded p180 sidepanels.. with exactly what i wanna do to my side panel... would it be cheating if i bought one?
