Well the point of folding is to help with the research that could save someones life, Joining a team just adds to the system. Teams then compete for places in the rankings. So its pointless, but why not? If you gonna fold, why not join a team?PhReaK_K wrote:Ok then what would be the point of a PC Format, folding Team ??
Apart from a noddy badge ??

You compete by folding, download the client and start folding. Once you complete Work Units (WU) then you get placed on the table at this page.

Sorry for the triple post but this is regard the amount of data uploaded. I finished a WU and watched my network usage while uploading it. Its about 1.6MB of upload once you've finished your WU. Depending on your computer it can take about 2 days to finish a WU, so thats only 1.6MB upload every 2 days

Dude, I just woke up my house from reading that. Sorry, but thats a little slow. although give it some time, the ETA usually drops. it bases the ETA on the current %, which if given a difficult part of the file, could result in a false ETAUrBaN wrote:Eish my lappy is slow..expecting first WU to finish 27 May only

Well it went from 28 May to 25 May
I do, however, see it using upto 90% of the CPU, despite being told to use minimal CPU time... spyware infection maybe? Nod32 did pop up with a warning about it, but I told it to ignore...
I'll scan again, didn't find anything last time though.
Anyone else having an issue with CPU usage?

Well folding uses the idle clocks of your CPU. It will report using ~100% of your CPU but won't actually affect the way your pc works. Thats to say that you shouldn't notice a change in the performance of your pc.
I read of reports where people say that virus scans have picked up a "threat" in the folding folder. Its a false positive (I think thats what they called it). Has the same structure as a virus but doesn't contain malicious data

I just started...was in a rush to check it out...just downloaded the graphical Windows one...as normally the non GUI ones arent that much better.
Now that iv read what its all about and how it works.etc
Im going to start using the SMP....
Just hope it actually saves my progress if I switch?
It takes me 32/s to do a frame. OUCH if it was a game!
1 min or so to render 2 frames
I set the priority to realtime, HCPUID's Hardware Monitor doesnt seem to be liking it at all
Wanted to check my temps to make sure its all right.etc

HmmZ, I couldnt get the SMP client working.
Using the normal Windows Console one...
I think I want to go back to the GUI one...but want to be able to play games at the same time
Im not sure if this normal console line based one is doing anything
EDIT: 7 hours and im halfway through a WU!
EDIT 2: I finished my first WU...
I have the least points though
I think ill try run multiple consoles
