Hmm but a bit stoopid... you update your gfx drivers and your CPU gets a better score? lol vantage is gonna have to add a physics score!

Re: 3DMark Vantage
Something i noticed, when i put the CPU usage meter on my second monitor and watched it, Vantage uses barely any ram or processing power until you get to the physics tests

Nice CPU score!
I wish nVidia would get their azzes into gear and release a standalone PhysX driver for their 8 series cards under Vista. I've got my 8800GT itching to do some collision detection and cloth simulations...

Re: 3DMark Vantage
Are you running an AMD GPU? Because you need PhysX to get a good CPU score.Prime wrote:wow, my CPU scores are low?

Something went wrong somewhere in my PC, so had to do a reformat, well, guess that happens.
My 3DMark Vantge score now is even a bit higher, which I'm quite pleased about

Re: 3DMark Vantage
My question is that some ppls pc is way better than mine but my score is higher or just under theirs... How does vnatage do its test coz with 3D 06 and aquamark you will have a better score indication of the better pc?
Thanks to Stuart

Re: 3DMark Vantage
Not really-3Dmark offers no real world guide on how good your PC is.
It's really just an epenis enlarger.
Often certain makes of card-such as ATi-obtain results better then Nvidia but when it comes down to actually playing games, it falls behind.

Re: 3DMark Vantage
.
I think I tend to agree with that. 3DMark scores to me are just an indication of the level/standard of a pc, the actual performace of the pc is, at the end, determined by how well the games play and perform. Maybe all that 3DMark does is give someone bragging rights with extremely high scores, but that doesn't necessarily mean to say the games on that pc run extremely well. That's just my opinion. Hell, my Vantage scores are pretty good (3DMark 06 at about 14800), but yet, Microsoft Flight Simulator X (with Accelaration expansion and SP1/SP2) keeps on crashing and blue screening to desktop (but then again that could be due to it being a Microsoft game). With my previous system with way lower specs I never had that problemFrozenfireside wrote:Not really-3Dmark offers no real world guide on how good your PC is.

Re: 3DMark Vantage
After the release of the new AMD Phenom II X4 940 BE, I decided that maybe it was not a bad idea to upgrade to that one from my AMD Phenom 9950 BE, so i did (after only having had the 9950 since mid November). The 940 gave me a nice improvement on my Vantage score from about 19500/19600 to a nice 21625. Very pleased with that. Don't seemd to get it any higher than 3.5 GHz though, but I guess that's also quite fine
Now all I need to do is start playing some games
