WaterCooling Help

Post by Mow »

Guys , I have spent the last 4 days rewiring , spraying and fixing up my case in order to install my NEW swiftech watercooling kit. Now , its done - and it looks very pretty ...... but thats it. My temps are 7c higher than they were with my zalman air cooler !!!! Checked for kinks in the tube ... Nada. Played with the pumps speeds . Nothing. Any suggestions ?

1) What thermal paste are you using?

2) What fans?

3) How are the fans oriented?

4) How are you measuring temps?

5) What kit do you have?

1. The paste that was supplied in the Kit.
2. The fans that were atteched to the radiator in the kit.
3. Pulling air through the radiator toward the case
4. Using everest while running ortos
5. The Apex Ultra kit.

Edit.

A correction on point 3.

Pushing air through the radiator from case side.

So you applied paste, put the block on. Then you removed it again to see how it looked, and put the block on? Right?

No dude , I removed the block then cleaned the block. Smoothed the paste on the cpu and cleaned around the edges and then reseated the block.

thats weird, i don't think the paste has anything to do with it. But one thing it is sitting correct on the cup ya?

My temps on my chip are like 20/26 GFX card 28. Asetek blocks, 12mm ID... Triple radiator.

Picture of your setup??

Still seems odd tho Mow, the Swiftech Apex is one helluva kit should work well

Yea , Can say that im more that a little dissapointed. Going to try and change fans to blow air through the radiator toward the case. If that doesn't work I will drain the system and shorten all the pipes, to try and eliminate all the bends.

Sell the kit :-P to me.

What temps are you at? You say 7c higher, but air usually has a higher delta than water. Lower idles, higher loads.

you say you mounted it on teh side of your box? now are the fans blowing out or into the box? secondly how did you prime the system when u first put fluid in?

Yea they are , but the offset is about 5cm. ( Thats how they came from the box) Well, i put the liquid in the rez. Liftedted it so the liquid could run to the pump and repeated a few time. Then i started the pump like they said i should in the manual. Stop & repeat.

Um, what loop order are you running. Res >> Pump >> CPU >> GPU >> Rad >> Res.

Thats how i run mine, and ive got a T junction coz ive got a 3 port CPU block so one T's off to the GPU which took a while to get the water running through.

But um obvisiously your blocks are all nice and shiny, and i dont think paste is the problem. I would say too lil is too much in a sense. Should mainly have enuf that spread over the chip and seat it on the chip and just gently move it from side to side to cover the area on both surfaces....

Cant really think of anything else, pump maybe put it on low speed. maybe its flowing too quickly through the system... Heard this could be an issue when coming to temps.

Otherwise, test ur systen out side the case but all mounted and maybe on someone elses pc.

DoOb's

It doesn't matter what order you run the components in. You won't see more than a 0.5-1 degree difference in temps.

:( I think it HAS to be the mounting or the cpu block... Unless the pumps off :P

I'll check the seating again tonite. Could it be that im pulling hot air from my PSU through the radiator ?

Well you say the radiator is mounted on the side of the case, so i doubt it.

What fluid are you using?
