Ubuntu Server Update

Post by Koko_Lion »

Not sure if this has been covered :?

Can one install Ubuntu Server 7.04 and just update to 7.10 or is a full re-install required?

Thanks in advance

I've never worked with Ubuntu, but with SuSE, if you pop the disc in and start the installation procedure, it gives you the option of upgrading your existing installation. I'd be EXTREMELY surprised if Ubuntu doesn't give you the same option.

Morning Koko

Jip, you can. Just run a script update once the 7.10 CD is in :D
You do know that Ubuntu Server runs on CLI only hey

Thanks Guys,

I will give it a shot and see how I go. The best way to learn is just play, play and play...

while it installs as CLI by default, and aside from clogging the install, (which defeats the object), and introducing some security risks, there is nothing stopping you from installing gnome or kde afterwards...

although webmin has got to be the far simpler option...

Too true. I did this for the web filter box at work. I just used the standard Ubuntu desktop from the alternate CD, or you can download the gui packages from the net
