Booted into windows at 5ghz....:D:D:
Well i did this pretty quickly, i was able to do a 1M run at 4.9ghz i got about 9.343secs at Case4....
But i thought i could do better but then got a error with the next run, and after that a couple more, but hey 5ghz wasnt too bad to get.
I think also being able to boot into window at 585FSB i think wided its overclocking at x9
oh btw i was using ICE water, big pot of ice and water with the lid on it so that it wouldnt melt so much. wrapped my tubing a crap load in paper towel and put down a lil bit of insulation of the chip socket and then covered with paper towel once again.
Need to figure out whats causing it to get errors at 5ghz.

Congratz!
EDIT: I like how DFI can display negative values for the CPU temps, I remember PC's used to not be able display negative and report back 200C when actual CPU temp for -56C. Or they used to just go to 0.
The ice build up under the mobo maybe? Do you live somewhere with high humidity? My pc didnt work for a lil while. for some reason i cant run my ram in Dual channel, what could be the problem....screwed up the NB a bit maybe...

At least my DFI at reach that 600FSB milestone, and im am exactly even with our very own legendary Extreme overclocker Seth, down in C.T where he has only also reached 600FSB on this motherboard. So i intend to go higher and see if dry ice gives pushes it further or its gives way to a cold bug to the North Bridge. Should be quiet nerve racking but exaggerating.
One set of ram slots are working, so im all good with that, will test the others again in a couple days.

yo ho ho, elo all...i need some advise...
ive gona past the 4ghz clock on the e8500...it runs fine, for a while, after an hour or so, i get a nice bsod..hardware error. dump memory and then restart.
any ideas as to why? maybe the V on the cpu is too high, ( 1.38 ishV)
strike 2 formula mobo :780i sli
e8500.. it should go over with no probs 24/7
btw, no heat issues at all.

Re: The Wolfdale Overclock Thread (E8400/E8500)
Im searching for somebody to sell me one of these chips but still no luck.Has anyone here overclocked these chips with a P5K Deluxe
Re: The Wolfdale Overclock Thread (E8400/E8500)
The P5K uses the P35 chipset from intel. Its one of the best overclocking cipsets ever made. You will be able to oc a E8400/E8500/E8600 to 4.4ghz without much troubleSlyphar wrote:Im searching for somebody to sell me one of these chips but still no luck.Has anyone here overclocked these chips with a P5K Deluxe

True, i ran my E8600 @ 4.8 Ghz easily on a p5k deluxe.
