just to add onto naughty's post is that for the collaboratory pro one needs to have a copper heatsink otherwise it will chow your aluminium one...

And to add to Anakha's post. Collaboratory is really risky stuff and I wouldn't recommend it to everyday Joe

Sheish wik, whats with the attitude. (Its not what you say, its how you say it)

As an everyday compound AS5 does the job and does it well.
What I type has nothing to do with the people that employ me.

I've used that coollaboratory metal pad.
It works very well but it's tough as nails to melt and to get off the CPU/cooler when you want to upgrade.

Stick with the Arctic silver 5-It's got good cooling abilities and doesn't require a jack hammer to remove.

Well the Super Thermal Paste Test: 36 brands tested! shows that there are better thermal compounds than AS5 ;)

What Firestrm stated was that that he found AS (he never said if it was 5 or 3.etc im guessing 5 though) was the best in his opinion.

Ok, well that is his opinion, but has he even tried one of thoes in the top 3 of in that Super Thermal paste test?

I placed my order on monday with Prophecy I got the metal pads instead of the paste, I hope it works well with the cooler I ordered with it the CoolerMaster Gemini II is one heavy bugger nearly 900grams.I hope with the two zalman 120mm 2500rpm fans I got that fits onto the cooler I'm going to see good results on oc.

I phoned them today Henk said it's a bit tricky to install. From reviews I have read is that it needs to melt at around 70 to 80 degrees only for a short while.

You could also use a heat gun or hairdryer according to the manual...I see them getting sued soon...but no one is that dumb I hope.

These metal pads are cooler than AS5 but not by much mabye two or so degrees.

Not recommended for WC setups...

How about having a cup of shut your trap up you know it all twit.

I order what I want when I want I don't need the approval of a little snot nose kid like you telling me what to do...

You asked for it...by the way it has been a lot time coming.

Bertus if I were you I would change the cocky attitude.

Besides whats wrong with the cooler I got.It is in the top 10 of last years coolers.Besides I'm not paying R600 for a air cooler.

Those pads took me 10mins to get my CPU to 80 degrees with no fan and then another 10mins of gaming to get it to sort of melt.
I think I ended up playing several hours with no fan on the cooler to get it to actually melt [100%].

I like the Gemini 2 but it is heavy.

I've ordered my Zalman VF1000 LED from the UK and my mate is coming to SA for a *Sunny* holiday with it in his hand luggage (Like I trust Jozi Int. bag handlers).

I know the Gemini has a bad rep but with proper 120mm fans even without fans it works great of course with good thermal compound.

I will up the vcore a bit to around 1.5 should get it right upto 80 or so and let it idle for a few mins.....

But to be on the safe side thinking about running prime95 or 3dmark01 looped overnight of course with a good OC around 3.6 ~ 3.8 should have me safely around 60 ~ 70

ooooooo looks like someone hasnt had any taco recently..... try all bran flakes wiz
Don't I look like I got it all today? :D

I like it because if you have 1) a very hot NB/SB then it really can cool them as well as the CPU 2) and a massive side panel fan blowing onto it with 2X12cm fans, the CFM airflow is said to be in-sane.
Like you said though, it does require a decent thermal compound but that's the same with many coolers.

I used Q-fan today for controlling my fans. I thought the PC was off! and then it overheated and did turn it's self off. Fail!
