3D Mark 06 - what score should I be getting

3D Mark 06 - what score should I be getting
My PC Specs below in my signature.
Running with no overclock at all on CPU, RAM, Graphics, I get a score of 9240 on 3D Mark 06 with all settings on standard in 3D Mark 06.
By pushing the CPU to 3.4 Ghz, I can achieve about 9500 3D Marks.
These numbers seem a little low when compared to articles/tests I read in PC Format mag for similar speced systems.
Are these numbers OK for my system or am I living in make-beleive that i have a good system

I might give it a try - overclocking the GFX card that is. Will see how it holds out as mine gets quite warm at it's stock speeds, but I think they all do - that's why they have the massive coolers.

Just realised - not such a good idea to refer in the text to your signature for PC specs as when you update your hardware and signature, it then appears that the original post referred to the new specs and not the old ones....

I think you need a better PSU.
My 8800GT, E6300 @ 2.5ghz, 2gigs DDR2-800RAM @ 5-5-5-15 and 450watt PSU scores 10311. Your GTX needs alot of power and I think 500watts isn't enough. MY 88GT needs min 450watts! and you also have a quad core.
Try Omega Nvidia drivers as well.

Must say, the 500W power supply has been making me wonder, especially considering mine only had one dedicated 6 pin connector for the GTX card and I had to make use of an "adapter" plug (supplied with the card) to make up the second 6-pin connector that the GTX requires for power.

ja well it helps to have a bit of extra juice for your PC.
I've got a PSU lined up and I think you would like it.
Google Corsair TX 750watt Series Power Supply or Corsair HX 620. Either one of those is good for what you need but I think 750watts is a better jump.

Noticed Incredible Conx selling a Gigabyte 550W PSU that claims to support 2 x GTX cards in SLi with some interesting cable management etc - but it will whack you R999
I agree, if I upgrade from 500W, it wont be to 550W.
750W is more like it! Although theoretically, the latest graphics cards and CPU's are now coming out with reduced power demands (8800GT and 45nm quad CPU's for example). Perhaps one of these day a 350W PSU will be considered overkill again - will make Eskom happy

Yeah, I know it's overkill.....Depends on the cost I guess. If I can get a 750Watter for a few bucks more than a 550W, then it makes sense. I'm not rushing into that though

Look I like the Aopen 700watt PSU but according to my suppliers they don't stock it any more. This is an issue but they are brining out a 850KW with better Amp ratings. I might buy that instead.
I hear you all buuut I still think that his system is going to need more juice.
Even I'm considering a better PSU and my systems way behind his although I am looking at Sli in the future.
I think we might try find someone with a better PSU to lend it to him for the day. Then he can test it and see what's going down.

I had the same view as you lot but I spoke to GLDM from nag and he's done testing on weather it makes a difference to a PC to provide a much larger then normal PSU. Also what drivers are you using? Nvidia forceware? try Omega if you want as well. It may also be a driver issue but I doubt it.

Did anyone do the test yet? I get a 100% peak power consumption of 559watts.
@85% it's 319watts. If I SLi my rig I need at least 652 watts @ peak power.
New PSU here I come.
Oh and the article was in SACM (which no one buys) so IF I can find it I will post it.

According to the test, i get a required power of 387W....theoretically well inside 500W that I have.

If your CPU runs @ 100% for more then 1 second then you need to select 100%.
Its an average dude.......If your pc runs @ 100% on average, you've either got spyware, viruses, adware or a sh1tty administrator looking after your pc
Edit: I doubt his pc would even run @ 60% usage (average)......
