Im not sure why, but to me (maybe its just my PC) but running the KDE enviroment takes so much longer, its not all that stable....and it somehow reminds me of a XP-ish look. Kinda like Fisher Price toys or something.
Im happy with Gnome, its fast, stable and very customizable
Has anyone used KDE4 yet? I might have, I got OpenSUSE 10.3 installed...

I remember posting about the KDE enviroment in some other thread. It does resemble WidowsAlphA wrote:Maybe the fact that it resembles Windows?DAE_JA_VOO wrote:I've always hated KDE. There's just something about it that i really dislike... no idea what:?
Theres My Computer, theres a "Start" Menu, which works sometimes, others it doesnt, YaST is the worst admin tool ever created, slow etc etc
If you guys want a real Linux enviroment to work with, that actually works and is powerful beyond belief - use the Gnome Kernel
YaST is not a "KDE Tool", its SuSE's package manager/setup tool (Yet Another Setup Tool). And its not that bad if you use it from the command-line (type "yast2"). Much quicker than working in the GUI. I like the fact that it can be used remotely via ssh.
Lastly, Gnome is a GUI, not a kernel, but I'm sure everybody knows what you meant.

Yeah alpha, that's a notebook LCD. I wish all 17" LCDs could do that res
Anyway, yeah, you're right, KDE resembles windows, that's one of the things i dislike.
And like Jeff, i absolutely HATE Yast. I haven't used it from the command line like you though, but i have no intention to do so any time soon
Gnome FTW baby, gnome FTW!

That guy that used to mod cases. Now I take photos. True story.
KDE lover
I love KDE.
Not because it resembles Windows, it is a lot more flexible than GNOME.
KDE is not slow at all - install PCLinuxOS and you will see! (SUSE is just slow and buggy - not KDE's fault).
I don't understand why people call it 'kiddie' - GNOME is the simplistic one from what I can see.

You know, KDE4's release was premature. Its not even finished, half the features do not work. And I never really liked KDE 3x so I guess until KDE4 is decent (could take a year or so); I'll have to use Gnome
