What should I develop?

Post by SilverBack »

Hiya all,

Well...its thr new year and things are taking a while to get rolling at work. So I am idle at the moment (helping out with support etc when needed), and Im looking for ideas on what to develop. I am responsible for my company's intranet and website.

So anyone have any ideas of what to develop, to add to the intranet or website? We pretty much have everything on the intranet that most already have, so the trouble is finding something that is not already there and would benefit the firm.

So fire away if you guys have any suggestions! ;)

Well, that depends on what the firm does and what the intranet is used for...

What type of company is it?

Corporate Law Firm. Use the intranet for resources etc, they dont like the idea of adding stuff like polls etc as they worry people will spend more time "playing" on the Intranet than working. Have the normal:

telephone directory
leave application system
stationery system
pages for all departments
classifieds
who's new
starters
leavers
meeting room booking system
etc

Pretty much everything that is needed and more. Looking for something to occupy my time and develop, while adding value. Anyone got a fresh idea? Im out!

Develop a internal Facebokkie™ network, just to help with the bandwidth being consumed by this evil application of web datamining.

Found an awesome js app to display diff world clocks. DST is turning out to be a hassle as it works on a GMT setting you insert for a country. Hmm....this is a thinker. Think I might have to use a database...or array to set DST for each city....eish. A quick job turns into a long one :P
