How come DC3 are not on here? I am about to buy my pc from them and they have really good prices. They are in Tyger Waterfront, Cape Town.
Background: They were originially only distributors but since somewhere last year they have opened up to the public as well (the public are charged a bit more than resellers, but the prices are still cheaper than any other shop I could find).

What about retailers that are not just online shops - I want to walk in and buy a high end gaming PC, or at least the parts for it. Without going online with a credit card. In Johannesburg. Do such shops exist? None advertise in PCF (November edition anyway).

Where in JHB are you? You'll probably end up paying more, and will have to special order what you want. You can probably find a Matrix close to where you live, though some of the smaller franchise stores are a little dodgy.

East Rand (Edenvale area). There are a few Matrix stores in the region.Stuart wrote:Where in JHB are you? You'll probably end up paying more, and will have to special order what you want. It's those smaller dodgy stores I am worried about. Take my credit card details and ....

GregH, personally I use http://www.prophecy.co.za and http://www.digitalsaonline.co.za they may be online but service is snappy and they are well estabilished. I know for certain stuart can vouch for DSAO. and afaik both you can do C.O.D.

True, assuming you're not opposed to doing this. I can't see why you would be, but anyway.Firestrm wrote:yes but with any cc and cheque account you can transfer funds between the two.... problem solvedStuart wrote:DSAO don't accept credit cards though.

I ordered something from them this week, and unfortunately the product isn't available at the moment from any of the suppliers, so they found me a similar product that could ship immediately and Rory refunded the difference.
Excellent service from these guys!

Have a look at these guys.
They charge you a monthly fee and you get prices etc from a number of distributors.
What I have found however is that in some cases online shops are cheaper than even the distributors!
A while ago Lloyd at DigitalSAOnline quoted me better prices on HP PC's than I could get straight from Pinnacle. Added to which he actually put effort into getting me the right rig and giving me a few options.
With distributors you better know what you're ordering casue that's what you're getting!

A while back, rectum allowed individuals to register as dealers. Since then, as I understand it, barring existing clients, they won't deal with anyone whose core business isn't computers.
