8500GT overclock

Post by pienkie »

Hay peeps...

I used to hav a 7600GT, but long story short, had to RMA and eventually got a 8500GT. I'm ticket off, but anyway.

So I thought I might as well try and push this baby a bit, but I don't know how much? I popped on my Zalman VF-900 (without the ramsinks, since that was part of the issue with the previous RMA) and started.

The card runs a stock core of 460mhz, and a stock memory of 400mhz *don't laugh, ok?*

Now, I'm using RivaTuner, and I've got my memory up to 600mhz (that's where the slider ends????) and my core is up to 630mhz. Everything is still 100% stable (ATItool aswell as some real life gaming), and it idles around 44 on a really hot day (like today) and doesn't go much over 50 under load.

How far can I push? What is a reasonable speed? And can my memory go faster than 600mhz?

Thanks in advance.

I would just like to know what "RMA" is?

And i say that you could prob go futher with a different OC tool. Also has anybody noticed that all this new hardware coming out is REALLY OC friendly. RAM, CPU and Graphics Cards can all be pushed so far these days.

Yeah, I was surprised myself... But I have slapped a badass cooler onto it.

In Riva, I think I disabled 2D and 3D separate OCing, is that wrong?
