8800GT SLI 3dmark 06
8800GT SLI 3dmark 06
Found this while I was poking around. apparently those are the eVGA KO 8800GT's
Pretty impressive if you ask me, that ends up being cheaper than a GTX and a GTX wont get close to those numbers.

I know I was thinking the exact same thing...maxxis wrote:In all honesty I was expecting more.
Im hitting 15000+ on my single GTX.
Also - how is this cheaper than a GTX? Its 2 x (+-)R2400.....
In all honesty imo its worth keeping your GTX rob...
Nothing really hassles the GTX even now so why pay to upgrade now? Keep your single GTX, and in 3 months time stick another GTX in there and you'll have a faster machine than 2 x 8800GT's will give you. PLUS by that time, the GTX cost wise, will probably nearly half itself...
If you buy 2x 8800GT's now, just think - Your PCI-E slots are used up meaning the next upgrade you do is a brand new card which renders your GT's useless (excluding the option of selling em)...as well as in 3 months time my 2 x GTX's will own you
I am 63% addicted to Counterstrike. What about you?
it's most certainly not mateHex_Rated wrote:3dm06 is CPU limited.
The older 3D Marks were cpu limited, not so much 3D Mark06 anymore...
Also to stir a little, with respect to Skidd's comment about SLi scaling with 3D Mark06 - Bear in mind a couple of months ago 3D Mark06 was just about the only application that gained much from SLi (Not the only app but pretty much as it showed most performance increase with Sli rather than games), its only recently with these newer drivers that Sli is beginning to make an impact!

ADV4NCED Its a work in progress for nividia, even though they have had SLI out since the Geforce 6 series, for every new generation they have to rewrite everything again.
I didnt notice much improvement in 06 with two 7900GT's, the score only went up a little.
But I think we all looking at the advantages of SLI the wrong way. Its more of a matter of maintaining a certain level of performance rather than "doubling" it. With SLI you could probaly throw more at it before it calls quits and starts loosing FPS. Sure there is a performance boost but not overly so.

3dm06 is CPU limited over about 10k. How else did Gouhan manage to get 17k with a single GTS? He used a C2d on DICE.ADV4NCED wrote:it's most certainly not mateHex_Rated wrote:3dm06 is CPU limited.

It is SLI, I saw the same thread on hardforum.com. GPU-z is wrong he said. If he increases his CPU speed, he gets a much better score. Like I said, 3dm06 starts getting CPU limited when you start going over 10k points. No matter how much GPU power you have, it's not going to help. You need a faster CPU.

Dang I missed this thread
Oh ADV4NCED do not be mistaken 2x8800GTS runs so many circles around a single GTX It's beyond being funny...
heck a single 8800GT at 702MHz with RAM at 2GHz is faster than a GTX, its sometimes faster than a GTX at stock...
Right now I use the 8800GT at 755MHz/1724/999MHz and it plays Crysis better than the 8800Ultra did at 702MHz core :/ Might sound far fetched but its true. Granted on 8800Ultra at the time I used 169.01 drivers and 169.09 on 8800GT but I can almost get away with Very High on GT and that was not going to happen on the Ultra. :/
As for 3DM06 scaling, yes CPU plays a massive role, but its also very easy to max out the gfx cards. You'll see with a stronger CPU you'll increase CPU score, but GFX clocks won't go up much. So how you affect the 3DM06 will be through the CPU only.
