Sup all! 8)

I know almost all of you here have either heard/read or even experienced THE SECRET.

Wanted this thread to be where we share our views on the "the law/power of attraction", basically that you can obtain and do whatever you wanted if only you change you attitude towards it.

Kinda like you can "picture" or visualise whatever you want and end up having it. Be it a new job, new car, letting go of bad habits... whatever really.

What do you think of this "change your attitude & change the world" theory?

hey - it really works
i wanted a new car really bad and i got it because i made it happen!
wanted to be in a band really bad and somehow by some wierd twist of events
it happened!!!!
all i did was beleive

It is just one of the biggest sellers in books in the world atm - Rhonda Byrne’s mystical self-help book.

Mr Blood, i have not yet read it, but it gets raving reviews by a certain group, and is totally hated as the normal "mishmash of offensive self-help cliches" as one reviewer called it.

That said, I do think that positive thinking will give you confidence and drive, therefore increasing your chances of reaching your goals, but not through any mystical means...

My colleague is a firm believer in 'THE SECRET'...

But he is a foolish, foolish man.

While I wont dispute the influence of positive though on the outcome of a persons endeavours, I have to say that this 'SECRET' sound like more pop-culture bull. Like transcendental meditation, feng shui and all those other rubbish fads we have had.

I have a friend of mine who's sold on the whole Secret idea.

She mentions it in almost everything. She has paper cut-outs of stuff in her purse. We even went to VW so she can sit inside the VW EOS coz she believes she's gonna drive it one day. She also asked for the catalogue.

She also has also started packing her belongings coz she believes she's gonna move to Sunninghill in the very near future. To a R850K townhouse to be specific.

So I'm just wondering... what happens when 2010 comes and she's still staying with her parents? And still has to catch the 3 o'clock bus?

Would the Secret have failed her?

And what happens if we both believe in the law of attraction and we both want the same thing? Who gets it? The one who believes hard enough??

HAH! i can find fat better stuff using other search engines... i will hunt down two articles i have read last week regarding technology and how, while freeing us from remembering the mundane, it actually making us stupid. In fact, i think i posted it in some thread. my head is too sore to look for it now :)

IMHO this is just a money making racket by a clever author. The author found a nice way of exploiting the stupidity of Joe Average.
