I'm sorry but i don't understand this. How does a calendar full of girls have anything to do with PCs... Isn't PCFormat an IT mag?Nab wrote:it will be along the lines of a perreli or FHM calender, i.e. babes babes babes on crushed tree carcasses
That guy that used to mod cases. Now I take photos. True story.
I agree. PCF calender should not be like a FHM or Pirelli calendar at all. I reckon PCF think they will sell more copies of the holiday edition this wayDAE_JA_VOO wrote:I'm sorry but i don't understand this. How does a calendar full of girls have anything to do with PCs... Even though this canvassing process would be awesome - the models still needs to be paid for their 'service'MIA wrote:Good question Anthro.
Here's another question/suggestion. Could we get a list of, lets say, 25 or so models and then let the ppl on the forum decide who should be on the calendar? That would be cool IMO.
Samantha Greyvenstein FTW.
So the price is going to be pushed up by this..
Well - unless the models provide their portfolio's for free nowadays

very good question.. but if the historical answer is anything to go by, it's probably going to be something along the lines of :DAE_JA_VOO wrote:How does a calendar full of girls have anything to do with PCs... Isn't PCFormat an IT mag?
what creepy overcoat man wants, creepy overcoat man gets...
seriously now, what do barely clad woman have to do with personal computing, other than the more traditional perversion?

That old chestnut...
What completely baffles me - is that every time we run a reader survey, over 70% of those who take part ask for us to continue with the PCF babe on the cover, and the other 30% are completely divided as to what they want (game art, hardware, a hot dude...) Yes, really - a dude.
And then, on a monthly basis, we have to keep answering the same question from a teeny handful of readers: "What do babes have to do with hardware?"
To the point where I have a cut-and-paste standard reply.
If you would like us to feature something else on the cover, get a campaign going on the forum. We will listen! Promise.
Get that 30% to agree on what they want.
We will ALWAYS focus on giving the majority of PCFormat readers what they want. That's how magazines are sold. It only makes sense.

No point mentioning those bats, I thought. The poor ******* will see them soon enough...
Yay, this debate again. Take Perreli for example, what does a tire company have to do with girls, boggerall, but does that stop it from being awesome? hell no! The votes say the girl on the cover is a big yes at nearly 70%. We have done some really awesome covers in the past, we receive recognition in the industry and to be honest we really like being known as a sexy mag. The whole babes and IT/sex sells debate has gone on for ages; boothgirls, coverbabes, female armor etc are all examples and until our survey we where also in two minds. I guess, in short, it's not up for debate until the opinions change, if we do a calender based on what our readers like, it will be babes.

while i accept that this is the case, i find it impossible to reconcile the concept of "professional journalism" with "cover babe"... surely some staff members must find the concept that their product will not sell without sex demeaning.. .somehow?topazchyld wrote:What completely baffles me - is that every time we run a reader survey, over 70% of those who take part ask for us to continue with the PCF babe on the cover
there again, as a committed member of the 30%, my choice of puppys or bears wouldn't go down too well...
