Post by Bloodmonk »

Hey guys....

I am going to OC my GPU to 1GHZ core with some hardmodding...all thanx to the VR-ZONE..they did it first...

So I thought it would help the other guys that has a 8600GTS...looking to overclock theirs...

I need excellent air cooling for my GPU that would fit any Suggestions?

It's thermaltake. The name on it's own should tell you how good/bad the product is.
That guy that used to mod cases. Now I take photos. True story.

Dae, don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. It would most likely outperform the Zalman VF-900 although it is quite clearly a crib of the latter.

Anyway, your best options in terms of maximum performance are these:

http://www.zalman.co.kr/usa/product/vie ... 9&code=013

I would favor the HR-03 as you can choose your own fan. It fits a 92mm fan but you can make a 120mm work with cable ties.

Try find some reviews that compare the two though.

i agree with rob and doobs. i would not OC that high without using water.
What I type has nothing to do with the people that employ me.

I don't quite see the point of that. For the amount you will spend on water cooling you could have gotten yourself a 8800GTS 320MB instead.

lol, yeah water will be the better option for 24/7 1Ghz core.. but if i remember correctly the temps they got with that monster copper HS was pretty damn good, even enough for 24/7... but it's damn ugly :?

I see your point in this....but at the time I only had money for this card...and if you could score a thousand points or so in 3Dmark....why not?

I am not the only 1 with this card...Maybe this will help them to get a few extra points....

When does a OC constitute a Superclock?

Dont really know.... I think its the point where a normal OC would not reach a certain MHz..without hardmodding the GPU or whatever your OC'ing..

Like for instance...I can only OC my card to 752 core without modding my GPU but with voltagemodding and nice cooling it would reach 1GHZ core

Considering that overclocking ANY GPU core to 1GHz is actually quite a considerable feat.
