Cover Model Edited

Post by MIA »

Hi all. First I want to say: I am not a guy that complains that much, just like to point out 2 or 3 things. So here goes.

So yea got the September PC Format mag, popped the dvd in my machine and started browsing. I got to the wallpaper section and saw something to my surprise.

So for those that do not have the new mag yet here are some pics. I didn't post the second pic as it is not important to the topic. (cant see the front of her)

Ok now everybody can see the difference between these two pics, right?
Exactly the second one is photoshopped. OK for those who don't see - check under her neck in pic1 and then check again in pic2. Get it now?? Spots - no spots. Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think her bellybutton is also edited. Her stomach doesn't look natural IMO (2nd pic)

I say leave the woman as she is, don't try to make her more beautiful than she already is.

And another thing i just found out - the thumbs.db files in the wallpaper folder, are that of the previous month. (open wallpapers folder and select Thumbnails View) Not a problem - just thought to point it out :D

So what are you guys' opinion on this matter?

Show me a cover model that is not photoshopped!

Might be that they placed a before instead of the after on the first one.

Photoshop is part the cruelty in the fashion and advertising industry. It causes people to BUY BUY BUY. Sex sells and photoshop makes it easier to sell.

I am actually against excessive photoshopping.

From what Ive seen the PCF guys tend to overdo it a little on the skin cleaning.

well i dont mind that they edited, i mean the more beautiful the girls appear the better the cover will look, although its not like they need the editing done.

however the fact that they have one pic that is edited and another that isnt doesnt seem that professional to me, im assuming it was a mistake and they added the unedited pic by accident? things like that make ppl catch on and question, why???

editing or not, it doesnt bother me that much, the more my eyes pop out my head when i see the cover model the better, just this mix up with having a edited pic in one and unedited in another that doesnt look too good.
when in doubt, paddle out... ;)

yea my thought was - if you're gonna photoshop, photoshop everything so that we won't know the difference. Ok so they removed a few spots, but looking at her again, it also looks like they made her skin lighter. Why?? A tan is always a good thing :D

i think her darker natural skin and the beauty spots look much better than the edited pic, makes her more lifelike and thus more appealing.

Maybe they photoshopped the spots into the first picture. Ever think of that?

LOL, I actually can't believe that somebody picked that up. MIA, how long did you study her for? Just kidding!

Anyway, our designer is not here right now but I would imagine that the reason why the one has the spots and the other not is because the one image was in the running to be used on the cover. However, all the pics should have been reworked or not at all, and we didn't pick it up and apologise for the error. I'll chat to the designer and make sure that it does happen again in the future.

There is one bit of good to this though, at least you know that she is one beautiful lady and not just a creation of a skilled graphic artist.
