C2D if your system can handle it but it depends on a few things
1) You motherboard and sisterboard are compatible with the new CPU
2) that the CPU HSF can handle it.

Remember you are trying to put alot more CPU in the same small space and this can overheat the notebook.
Although it has to be said that the Pentium 4 was a bad idea for a mobile CPU and the C2D will run cooler.

As for your celeron-Thats probably why your notebook is slow am I right?
A gig RAM is fine for a notebook.

You can buy Socket479 CPU's for notebooks. I have seen them.
As for replacing the CPU, thats not going to be easy.

Question-Did you intentionally buy a Celeron?
Soon Google will know everything...including how to divide by zero :(

i notice that this laptop did also come out with the Core 2 Duo 1.6 on a 533 bus what would happen if i put a 1.8 667 FSB or even the new 800 ?

its a 945 chipset .... so i guess it will be fine right?

on a side note what about a Centrino 1.8 ? they run on 400 FSB dont they
