No random chat. It has a built-in instant message system where you add your buddies from facebook or by their character names or RealID's (see the PCF SC2 Crew thread)
League games use the ranking system to match you against a player of equal skill

Had 30 minutes to play last night and attempted the the great train robbery mission. Wasn't concentrating and got whooped, was too focused on finding relics and not on building bunkers on the road and producing additional diamondbacks to supplement those being lost. Frikkin hate replaying missions.

 that is an easy mission. Try the last Zeratul mission on hard... that is a challenge. All I got to say is... Damn but those hybrids are strong.

yeah definitely.

lol Tychus on his rampage.

gonna hate to see this one come to an end, but the anticipation for the next will keep me alive.

guess that is why I have prolonged finishing the campaign too quickly cause I didn't want to see it end.

guys, who of you have finished the Zero Hour mission on Hard difficulty and done the "Best Defense" achievement?

it is the one where you have to wait for 20mins until extraction and destroy 4 Zerg Hatcheries for the achievement.

Yes it is.

And despite trying several times, I have not been able to kill the 4 hatcheries on hard.

I kill the two in the centre of the zerg base (the eaiest of all IMO), but that costs me most of my initial marines, and by the time the hatcheries have re-built, there are too may spinecrawlers all over the place for me to get reinforcements across the map.

yeah, I achieve the same.

I have even Youtubed the thing and all the ones I see they keep a little force by that "mine?" just before you go into that base, then you kill off the 2 there and pull your men back to that mine. the Zerg then rebuild the Hatcheries but yeah right, not with me.

also the one vid I checked the guy never even got attacked as much as I do when trying that mission. I don't even try and get those rebels.

I also tried the "Welcome to the Jungle" yesterday, and what a surprise when I walked straight into 3 Collosi :D
damn nearly pooped my pants, but I bet my little army did :D

Zero Hour is one of the harder hard modes. But it is true. You go for the top left zerg base, kill the 2 hatcheries then fall back and make sure you dont kill the drones. After about 30 seconds send your team back in and they will start constructing hatcheries. If you destroy them during the build process it counts as a kill. Best of all is that the AI no longer cancels structures during the build process so a kill is a kill.

It's harder than it sounds though.

serious? so if the hatchery is in construction, if I destroy it it still counts?

AWESOME!!!

oh and whooops, guess that is why the hatcheries never got rebuilt, because I killed all drones :D

"Secret mission". The part I hate about it is that you need to force attack that building. The should have made it attack on right click but then again it would be too obvious then.

So I started a new campaign last night, from scratch and right from the start on Hard Difficulty. Well suffice it to say I have managed to get all the Hard Achievements as well as one Feats of Strength Achievement without even knowing it existed. :P Right now I am trying to finish the mission with the big a*s laser drill on Hard.

The "Best Defence" is actually, once you get it right, rather easy to achieve. Yes it took me several attempts, but I got it right last night quite easily. The trick is to build lots of SCVs in the start so your economy thrives early on, then build a CRAP LOAD of marines with about 7 or 8 medics to go with them. It also helps if you rescue all the marines around the map as this not only gives you extra forces but additional resources as well. By the time you rescue the last batch of guys on the far left, take your marines out of the two bunkers at the left bridge and add them to your force, then go and attack the Zerg base to the bottom left as there are 3 hatcheries there that you can kill. It's also important to have upgraded your units armour and fire power. I always go for damage first.

Now The trick to preventing your forces from getting slaughtered is to always go for the spine crawlers first, however when you do that you might get swarmed, so run your units up the ramp and attack the units gathering there then run back thus luring them out of range of the spine crawlers. Kill all the units that follow you then run in and kill the base. Focus on killing units first, and obviously the spine crawlers, as well as Nydus worms. Then kill the hatcheries, all the while you should still be building marines and medics back at your base. I managed to do this with 3 barracks, two with reactors and 1 solely to train medics. Once you have killed the 3 hatcheries, leave IMMEDIATELY, don't worry about killing anything else except for units, just leave. By this stage I had just under 5 minutes to finish the mission. I think I still had a reasonable force left after that initial assault so I moved to just above the left bridge to gather reinforcements, (btw it also helps to save along the way ;)) then went up, using the same strat, lure units out of the Zerg base and kill them, then move in to kill the spine crawlers, the one Nydus worm and any stragglers. Then give the hatchery near the entrance hell! ;)

I must admit the Best Defence achievement is actually kinda easy compared to the "It's So Easy" achievement, which requires you to prevent the Protoss from sealing a Tal’darim Altar on the "Welcome to the Jungle" mission on Hard difficulty. But I still managed to get it! :D On the same mission if you kill all the Protoss structures on normal difficulty you get the "You’ze So Crazy!" Feats of Strength achievement.

Happy achievement hunting! ;)

PS: Play lots of multiplayer, it teaches you a lot about proper build order and the correct way to queue things. A tip I can give you is if you can build something elsewhere, then don't queue up units that consume the resources you could otherwise be using to build that thing.

not to mention do some of the CHALLENGES as well.

it helps with finding counters to some of the units. just sadly it doesn't allow for each race match-up.

well I battled my butt off with that "Best Defense" and I actually managed to get it with the top left base, not the one you chose.

yeah, the "It's So Easy" I kept going mech (goliath) until I was told to try a full on marine medic pack and I did it, 1st try.

so far 3 FoS that I have are: the one where you invite a friend onto your B.net profile, the one where you kill the Brutalisk with the ARES bot on the secret mission and then the "Welcome to the Jungle" one.

what you mean?

you know the secret mission right?

you get it in the Media Blitz mission by destroying the research lab hidden on the right hand side.

now in the mission you get the part where you release a Brutalisk, but just before that you enter an area where there are siege tanks and vikings and few soldiers.

now just before entering that area you get the part where you can access the ARES bot to go kill that stuff.

don't use it then. leave it to kill the Brutalisk once you have it released.

give me a shout on Steam if need info.
