Increase the Avatar file size? (Poll)

Post by Tel »

I am putting in a formal request for the avatar file size to be upgraded. Not by much, only to between 20-25k.

Vote and lets see what other users are thinking.

i'd like a bigger sig size. not more weight just dimensions.
What I type has nothing to do with the people that employ me.

I personally thing the dimensions are more than ample, its just the file size that can hamper your av, especially if it's animated...

We will never allow for the Resolution of your ave to go higher since it is a factor on how the sight displays. The weighting however is something diffiret. I would not get too happy at the prospect though cuz there is a reason for the weighting limitation as alot of people on the internet still has 56k telephone lines they dial up with. Not everyone is lucky enouth to have a 1Mb or 512Kb pipe.

Not true.

Most 56k'ers have moved on to 384k adsl.
And 5K difference doesn't even hurt those 10 56k users on this website.

A weight of 100k like some sites have would hurt 56k'ers.

Whats wrong with that? :P

I would prefer a sig with a slight dimension increase. I dont mind too much about the weight limit right now. :P

Also most people have moved away from 56K and the few here who are still on it should manage fine as I manage fine with my phone as a modem (just GPRS) which is basically the same as 56K. A slight weightincrease wouldnt hurt us much at all. If we give 5KN more for your sig and avvie it should still be fine and help out a lot of us quite a lot! :D

I couldn't care less but most people are moving from 56k.
Either way, I rather prefer a dimension increase more than a weight one. Then again they go together hand-in-hand. Well under normal circumstances...

I like it the way it is... internet is slow enough from the office as is...

I want to read what people have to say, not see what they can create / copy from the net...

Do I have to use my "On Topic" avvie again? This thread is concerning avatar size, not sig size.

I understand that there may be a lot of SA users on 56K, and when it was decided to limit the avatar size to 16K, those users were probably the majority. Nowadays, a lot of 56K users have switched to some sort of faster speed, whether it be Telkom ADSL, iBurst, or even HSDPA.

The 56K numbers are getting smaller, and all I'm asking for an extra 5K, which will not affect the loading of a page too much.

Think more ppl moved to asdl. The question then would be why waste your cap? I am on isdn so it wtill bothers me. Maybe change the dimentions but limit the data to 16k still?
