I tried this one a while back, but it always had issues with updating itself, has those problems been sorted out now?

I am a guy so please people stop sending me these shady pm's and start playing computer games or bodybuilding. Forums aren't a good place to get chicks the gym is...
I'm going to try Avast now when i get home. Readin all this makes it sound good. been using AVG but can't get it to update. anyone else think Avast is good?
When cleaning a clients pc i usually do a combo scan starting with AVG, then another scan with Avast. Seems to cure most problems.
I have found AVG free as a pretty effective AV, there is not to much it misses, but then again i'm not sure if there is an AV that doesn't miss something.
I've been impressed with Nod32 as well but that ain't free.
The free AVG rootkit is pretty nifty, doesn't run in real time but is rather effective at digging out most evils.
There are 10 types of people in this world.
Those who understand binary and those who do not.
iv been using Bit defender 8 and i havnt had a virus yet, best of all its free, couple that with comodo firewall pro ( also free ) and you have quite a safe system. i done a leak test on comodo and it passed with flying colors compared to other brands like symantec, trend .....
Tiza wrote:"Oh dear -- AVG 7.5 does worst of the lot with polymorphic viruses: only 2 of 12 detected. It is also the only rated "Mediocre" for detection of 130 000 PUPs. And just last October I took out a two-year sub for 5 licences."
That doesn't sound good
@Samaya: That is why i am changing. and my database is outdated and i can't update 4 sum reason.
Ok I am reawakening this thread in my interest. I am using AVG and from whats been said seems pretty solid.
My sister said her PC had a virus that AVG couldnt detect but since she doesnt update it doesnt say anything reliable about the situation.
Now I get the idea my pc is infected with either A) a virus that isnt being detected B) a spyware that isnt being detected by Ad-aware or C) Telkom sux (more than usual) because I am getting serious lag issues tonight and I am working on ISDN. There are 2 other wisreless networks my pc is detecting but problem is my pc is crashing or slowing down when I try to log onto wow.
I havent updated my mods so everything should be spyware free. Anything internet based is slow with lag up too 15k ms.
Is there anyway to scan your pc safely for viruses or spyware without infecting more of your system? And is there an AV recommended for this?

Only thing is then you wont be able to use the Spybot Solution aswell.. because those two are incompatible..
Best paid for antivirus (hands down) is:
Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0
Creating it's database took over 40 minutes. Scanning only 186Gb took over an hour and 20 minutes. God forbid I one day decide to actually scan a 6xxGb backup drive. My system's slower. It's rubbish.
