I agree , you can tweak it a bit but there is only one engine.

Don't forget the immense tweaks done to the engine for Episode 2. ;)

I want my PC up and running just for this very game! Otherwise the pre-load for the demo is complete, now I just wait for them to unlock it and I'll find any possible way to play it!

I'd just love to know how are south africans going to play this.

Well at least how I'm going to. I do have a connection that can play online, but I don't know any online people and my friends that I know don't play online games. So what are the odds of seeing a game with a low ping that will welcome strangers?

I'm going to wait a long time before purchasing just to see local opinions.

Oh and no, i don't want to play a co-op game as a single player.

The game, although heavily geared towards online play, does have a single player option and I'm sure it will have LAN play too, so fear not! ;)

i don't want to play a co-op game as a single player.
Also my friends don't play any games at all.

I tried it out on the weekend :) It's really cool and alot of fun buuuuuut unless you plan on lanning the crap outa it or playing online....you will get bored of the single player rather quickly. They offer you four movie style scenarios with each taking about 30min to complete, longer if you increase the difficulty. The source engine looks beautiful here, they went to town with the atmosphere and sound effects. It really feels like you are in the midst of a zombie holocaust, which I love. Blowing zombies heads off has never been so much fun :)

I dont know if I want to play this game :(. The review from Bit-Tech nearly made me buy it but then I stopped and thought let me see what the Zombies are like in COD5 and since I am scared from these buggers I dont know if I could handle a full blown Zombie game :?...

Doom3 was okay mainly because it was predictable and the weapons had a real kick in them. This game sounds like the weapons will do damage but not as much as you are hoping for. Did not play call of chtullu did not get the chance. The COD5 mission is awesome because you never know where thos slow walkers are coming from whereas Doom3 you knew go around this corner and voila a monster .

So, I bought this yesterday and played it in single player mode last night.

This game is seriously awesome. It's everything you could want in a co-op shooter: teamwork is strongly emphasised, the zombie spawns are randomised so you don't know what to expect around that next corner (which firstly gives you an adrenaline rush and secondly adds to the replay value of the game), and you get to kill zombies.

Now, all I need are some people to play with (I'm sure playing with other people is far better than single player), and I'll be very happy.

This game makes me want to sell my soul for a PC capable of playing it. I tried it at a friends house, and now I just go over there to play. I use him so much.

So what were people's thoughts on this game. Was received very quietly here so I didn't even pay it a second glance, but it got such a good write-up in this month's PCF that I may just get hold of it.

Agreed!

The level of gore is awesome! I just love getting either the sniper rifle or the assault rifle and going for headshots if only to see the head explode in a lovely splatter of blood! :D
