it is?

Nope

kBps = KB/s = Kilobytes Per Second

kbps = kbps = Kilobits Per Second

And kBps (Theoriatical Max) = kbps / 8

thus a 1024kbps will download at 128kBps

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't it:

Kb/s = Kilobits per second
KB/s = Kilobytes per second

Yep, i'm right. if the "B" is lower case, it's bits, if the "B" is upper case, it's bytes.

So, kB/sec is kiloBYTES per second, kb/sec is kiloBITS per second. The "ps" at the end of "kbps" just means "per second".

Think i'm a n00b? Click here

So viceroy and gromit, i dunno what you guys thought the difference between kbps and kb/sec is, but you were both wrong because it's the same thing.

alrighty, just did a test and it took 46 seconds which means your connection is approx 4x faster than mine which should be about 1mb, which is what your upload speed dictates.

Something is definately being cached somewhere on your network leading to your dl speed being so high

I don't know by how much our firewall throttles our traffic, but we have three separate digitnet lines, the one to Internet Solutions 24Mbps. Remember this is Absa headoffice in JHB CBD, +/- 5000 employees in four separate buildings
