Make my own, of courseda_ripper wrote:what are you gonna make that enclosure from? are you gonna buy one from an electronics store and mod it or make your own?
I haven't settled on anything yet, but i think i'm gonna build the enclosure out of plexi, and then screw some nice looking brushed aluminium to it, you wont even see the plexi. I'll still decide though.
No no. Watercooling hard disks is such a waste of money. It looks frikken awesome, no doubt, but it's SO unnecessary.da_ripper wrote:are you gonna water cool your hard drives aswell?
Guys, nice nice update
I've gone and changed the entire platform of the mod. It's like a 180' turn going on here. Originally, i was planning on using the XCCube i have at the moment, which contains the following setup:
P4 2.8Ghz, HT
2x 1GB Team XTream DDR500
Radeon X800XT PE
220W AOpen PSU
AOpen Case
That has ALL changed. I managed to get my hands on one of these monsters:
That, my friends, is a Shuttle XPC SN26P. This is a MONSTER of a SFF PC. It's slightly bigger than the XCCube, but it's a million times better.
Interested in the new platform? Well, the board is amazing.
-> It's a socket 939 based board, supporting regular A64, Athlon X2, and Athlon FX.
-> It's got an nVidia nForce 4 SLI chipset (yes, i said SLI).
-> It's got two DIMM slots, dual channel of course.
-> 7.1 channel on board audio
-> Gigabit LAN
-> FOUR SATA ports
-> And last, but certainly not least, it's got a frikken 350W PSU!! 350W! These Shuttle PSUs are so efficient. This PSU powered my FX60, both my 7800GTs, a DVD RW, and a HDD, and it was asking for more. I almost put a frikken 8800GTX in here. I have one lying here at my house, it's one of my friend's card, i wanted to run it so bad
Here's a link to the product page
I also ordered the card reader that i'll be tearing apart for the mod:
That's a Vantec card reader.
I ALSO ordered the reservoir. For the res i'll be using an Alphacool Cape Cool 10:
Now all i need is a socket 939 CPU, and a video card (or two ). I'm gonna keep trying to source that stuff. I can't wait to start this mod, it's gonna be a nice one
Let me know what you guys think

Hmmm, i see you're going all black? I like!! Looks good DAE, REALLY awsome.
I don't know at what kind of graphics card you are looking for, but I have a XFX GeForce 7300GS here just gathering dust. If you want it, I can run of and buy a ZALMAN cooler for it, because I had a zalman on that one, but Got the 7800GTX and stole the ZALMAN for the new card. Can't find the stock cooler though, and I think it's broken anyway (the cooler, not the card!!) Let me know how much you are willing to pay if you want it.DAE_JA_VOO wrote:Now all i need is a socket 939 CPU, and a video card (or two ). I'm gonna keep trying to source that stuff. Here's a mini Update. Icevision, one of my sponsors, will be sending me two 7600GTs on Monday for this mod.
Thanks very much to Mario over at IceVision for the huge contributions he is making to this mod

Hehehe, yeah dude, i'm happy about this SFF. Frikken SLI. Awesome stuff
Okay guys, small update here. I have a few things to update about. First of all, i managed to get my hands on a 3500+, a Venice I also played a bit with it, and got it to run GAME STABLE at 2.75Ghz (250x11) at 1.5V:
I couldn't go any further because the motherboard doesn't allow more than 250FSB So i'll flash the BIOS, maybe i can get more that way. (Happy about my Mushkin doing 275Mhz though )
So now the specs of the PC are finalized:
Shuttle SN26P
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice
2x 1GB Team Extreme DDR500
2x Legend 7600GT SLI
1x Seagate 160GB SATA2
1x Seagate 250GB SATA2
Not too shabby
I'm still waiting for my reservoir that i posted about a few posts back. It should be arriving from the US very very soon.
I received the Vantec card reader that i posted above about. Nice little reader this. Should be perfect for the project.
Last, but not least, i'd like to thank one of my sponsors again, IceVision. They've offered to send me two Legend 7600GTs. The one arrived today. They didn't have stock, so i'll get the second one next week.
Lol, look at this one:
Very funny. That sticker will have to come off since i'll be watercooling these cards.
So, big big thanks to Mario from IceVision, he's made another big contribution to this mod.
Ooh man i can't WAIT to start this mod. I've go SO many cool ideas. To give you an idea, the case will be black and i'll be using ORANGE plexi. I'll be fabricating an entire new face for the mod, and i'll be making a motherboard cover as well. I also plan on doing some pretty intense work with plexi in this mod. Even more intense than in Epiphany. I plan on doing plexi FORMING, like molding and so on.
In case you were wondering about the watercooling, i'll be using Koolance goodies. I have already obtained all of the stuff i need for the watercooling, except for the reservoir, which, as i said above, is on it's way to me from the US. I'll be watercooling the CPU, Chipset, and both Video cards.
Modding FTW guys, seriously.

Funny conversation i just had with Wikid, in which i RE decided the main theme for this mod
This morning i'm gonna go see someone about a 12" LCD that he wants to sell. He wants 1200 bucks for it though. He's never gonna get that. So i'm gonna see if i can negotiate with the guy. Imagine a 12" LCD in the front panel of the case? Would be cool
So there you have it. The case is gonna be a pearl white, and red plexi for the trim.Ettienne: What do you think of that Carbon LI mod?
WiK1d: Haven't really checked it out
Ettienne: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.p ... ost1444458
WiK1d: ta
That looks pretty cool
Ettienne: Yeah, go back in the thread to the finished product images, looks nice
WiK1d: Yeah I saw...I love the white
Ettienne: Yeah, the white looks nice
:O
maybe i should make the genocide them a WHITE and red theme :O
WiK1d: Dude I'm gonna build a cover out of plexi for my P180
Ettienne: that would be incredible
WiK1d: OH MY WORD THAT WOULD BE SOOOOO NICE
Ettienne: Like an Apple white, you know what i mean?
like a pearl white
WiK1d: Yeah
Ettienne: omw
i'm gonna do that
yeah
WiK1d: That's what I wanted to do with whatchamackkilits...
my HTPC thing
Ettienne: yeah
oh dude
yeah that's what i'm gonna do
man i'm excited now
WiK1d: That's gonna be kickass dude
Ettienne: Yeah
and that red plexi as a trim
WiK1d: Yeah
WHOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO
Ettienne:
I'm gonna make a motherboard cover for genocide as well, out of red plexi
WiK1d: Dude...now I wanna mod
Ettienne: LOL!!
i was originally gonna go black case, orange plexi, but now, white case, red plexi
man i'm excited
WiK1d: yeah that will look so nice
Ettienne:
lol i'm gonna post this conversation
WiK1d: lol
Ettienne: say something happy man
Hello mom
WiK1d: huh?
Ettienne: LOL!!
where's my mum *looks for mom*
WiK1d: lol

No no, it would be permanent, it would constantly display system info, like CPU temps, etc etc etc.Lithe_Joint wrote:would it be a permanent front display, or would it retract when not in use?
None of that matters though, i didn't get the screen. I negotiated the guy all the way down from R1200 (is he off his head?) to 800 bucks, but that was still too much IMO. I'm not gonna pay more than 700 bucks for a 12" LCD, that's from hong kong, flimsy build, no warranty, etc etc etc.
I think i'm just gonna get myself a Lilliput 7" off ebay or something.

Dude that sucks, if you can find someone going to asia EG thailand, get them to look in and around the stores there, you can get some ok looking displays for about R800... LCD orDAE_JA_VOO wrote:No no, it would be permanent, it would constantly display system info, like CPU temps, etc etc etc.Lithe_Joint wrote:would it be a permanent front display, or would it retract when not in use?
