As promised, here is an update on the psu light panel...
Man, drilling those holes really was nerve racking...one slip and the whole coockie would crumble
Here are a couple of pics:
Holes made plus the mystery pipe (you'll see)
And led's fitted, ready for soldering
A close-up for your perusal...
And a couple of bottom shots, just to get an idea.
I'm really impressed with the outcome so far. The next mission will be to do some soldering, which is not my favourite passtime...but you gotta do what you gotta do

More updates.
This took me some time, and was quite a bother, actually
I found a couple of other niggly things that needed sorting, like the psu rectifier which had come loose, and more wiring had to be done for the additional psu fan and led circuit.
Some testing before closing up the psu...
And then, finally installing the heart of Valkyri Phase One
Even with the flash of the camera, those leds are not drowned out...and they are running off a cell charger for testing purposes 3 volt
Imagine those with 12 volt coursing through them
And now, SHOWTIME...still only with 3 volts...
For now, that's that.
I'm going to be sourcing some other things, which will bring me ever closer to completion, but , for now this project is going into hibernation.
JHB I am coming back!

@ silv3rback: I don't want to deviate too much from black and amber...and those leds are probably going to drown out most of the other lighting, once they run at 12 volts in any case. But maybe an accent here and there with 1 other colour wouldn't be a bad idea. I mentioned the use of el wire previously for the hdd cage but methinks LED's FTW
@ Dragonflyweb: Yep, they will be one of the main attractions...but I don't want to make it look too "busy", I'll try not to go overboard (but you know me... )
Thanks for all your comments

Yea the pipe looks good. Just make sure all your connections are well covered after you have extended if thats what i see you doing. with insulation tape.Lithe_Joint wrote:Thanks, DoOb.
Ya, I figured since the leds where going to attract a lot of attention, it had to be 100%.
What is your opinion on the pipe that I used for the psu cables?
Otherwise keep going coming along smoothly

@ viceroy : Methinks a variable resistor of appropriate value, is a good idea...then I can adjust the brightness to my heart's content ...I'll make a note of that, for when I unpack ...
@ DoOb : I am going to extend them a bit and I'll be using heatshrink...much neater imo, although it won't be visible.
