Upgrades?

Post by XIII »

I've got an ASUS motherboard with a 754 socket (Its got an AGP slot) I think with a Athlon 3400 cpu. Anyways I was wondering what kind of upgrades can I do to it in the future or is it just better to replace the mobo and cpu or can i just change the mobo and keep the cpu? I'm not a huge gamer but I still like the games to run fairly smooth.

you won't be able to use that cpu in any new motherboard... replace both. socket 754 is old technology now...

is there a way to attach a pci-e video card to an AGP socket? Cause my video card broke and i was thinking of getting a 6600GT card but want to upgrade later.

you get an adapter that CAN do that, but I've never seen one in SA (hmmm or was that AGP > PCI.... can't remember)
