I'd suggest starting with the tutorial at http://www.cplusplus.com - after that you should have enough grasp of the language to move onto tutorials for Qt, or GTK+, or whatever interests you.Vexo wrote:I am doing Delphi in school but want to learn C++ anybody know of any good books?

i found the sams teach yourself c++ in 21 days really really good, although its better to have more than one reference, as some of the books explain certain concepts differently, which might be the same way u see thingsI am doing Delphi in school but want to learn C++ anybody know of any good books?

I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

I love cosplay - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc0aMeY5F_E - NOT!
I know VB.net (2003)
cobol
can do html but suck at it (webpage programming doesn't really interest me)
and still learning C++ and Java.
next year I'll be learning C# and assembler
Ah but one day I wish to know then all, except the kinda inpractical ones or the 200 lines to read and write one line ( like cobol )

Studied
VB.NET
ASP.NET
MS SQL
HTLM & XML (if they count).
Have not used them once in the working world.
Frequently stop and scratch my head as to why I spent over R50k on a qualification that I am not using and that I am forgetting at an extraordinary rate.
Was looking through my text books and mini-projects that I did, can hardly remember any of it. Programming is something you really need to keep doing to keep the skills fresh.
