by the way it look it seems that you´re a sales personnel for mcafee. well i used NAV, PC-cillin and Zonealarm to poison my system but they dont suck at all. if you´re looking for a manufacturer who can at least come halfway with your mcafee - its Symantec´s NSW. but then again, there´s no real protection in an unreal world and the best protection still is to back-up your system whenever possible... there´s no such thing as solid anti-virus or firewall for that matter. anyway, nice try mr. salesman but you cant cough my penny out into your product.

[ Edited by snipeers On Date
October 01, 2002 ]

Ummm... NAV kicks the stuffing out of every AV proggy that I have used in terms of both protection and usability, and I have used a lot of them and dealt with various others on friend´s/family´s systems. NAV also have the best website in terms of online resources.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

I use norton antivirus, mainly for ease of use, with liveupdates etc.
Zonealarm as well as blackice for my firewalls. Blackice is a nice background firewall, letting zonealarm take care of everything, and if anything comes through, i let blackice clean it out :D

We use Nortons at work, and I have McAfee at home.
I prefer McAfee, because I feel its less intrusive - you hardly know its there.
If you want a hardcore antivirus app use Antigen, it runs on all our exchange servers and kills everything.
I wouldnt even use antivirus at home except that my mum checks her mail on my PC and she will click on anything (If you attach a file called "Click this to nuke ur PC.EXE" to a mail and send it to my mum, she'll open it!).

I use NAV at work and at home, never had problems with it. I used McAfee years back but changed when NAV brought out their LiveUpdate. I dont think MacAfee had it then, can't really remember. I find firewalls a hassle bcause mine blocked some stuff I needed so I removed it .

Well not if you stay offline and away from Lans, I would suggest you use some protection when we Lan though. Once all the Knights got infected with some crappy virus we contracted at a Lan, it was nothing serious, but my dad nearly killed me.
