The Hard Drive Benchmarking Thread

Post by DAE_JA_VOO »

Okay, so while reading another forum, i came across a Hard disk Benchmarking thread and thought to myself: "Sick, Why didn't I think of this?!" and, in turn, decided to start the same thread here.

So this is how it's going to work.

We're going to use HDTach to do the benchmark. You can get it HERE.
Download the free one.

Then, run the test on the drive you want, but run the short test, the 8MB test.

Then, take a screenie if the result and post the screenie along with your hard disk info, like this:

Seagate 80GB IDE (ST380011A)

Image

Just like that :D

I did this on my HTPC. I'll setup a RAID array on my Hitachi SATA 2 disks now now and see what speed i get :D

So come on guys, lets see it.

EDIT: Ag sorry, i posted this in the wrong section. Could a mod please move it for me. Thank you :D

Western Digital 80GB SATA (WD800JD-00LUA0)

Image

This WD SATA 80GB is 35.7mb/s faster than my Seagate 80GB SATA. Plus the WD has windows loaded on it. WTF? I thought the Seagate was faster so thats where I put all my games. Also the Seagate is 1 bar fitter than the WD in the SpeedFan S.M.A.R.T. test. The Seagate is at max. This is worrying.

4 x Hitachi 250gb Sata1 RAID 0, I forgot to set it to Sata2, else it would have been faster.

Hehehe Cyclic... That is also RAID it seems... I think it is faster than DJV's cause it about 3 times more space than his... Well that is what I think, since it also says STRIPE same as DJV's...
