When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Yeah, the dvd copy I received in the mag has the same problem.AlphA wrote:
EDIT : I managed to convert the 32-bit version of 10.1 to a DVD ISO. Not having much luck with the 64-bit version. I created the disc, but the installer could not find the list of packages to install. So, as of now, I only have the 32-bit DVD ISO working.
Tried to install it as soon as I got home, it bombed out,,,, no list of packages. Wasted two blank DVD's trying to get it to work.
Most dissapointing.
You are not on "the same page"Skyman wrote:Yeah, the dvd copy I received in the mag has the same problem.AlphA wrote:

I fink AlphA wanted to convert the CD ISO's to a DVD.
You should copy the ISO from the PCF DVD to your hard drive and open Nero and 'Burn the Image To Disk' <- thats wot worked for me
edit: oh and what "list of packages" are you looking for?
I am talking about the DVD that came with PCF. I copied the ISO to my hard drive, and then wrote it to a blank DVD.
Installation went fine until reading packages,,,, then failed with error "no package list"
I assume the package list is missing from the ISO distribution.
Needless to say, the installation could not continue.

did u use the 'Burn the Image To Disk' option?
did u check/scan the media?
did u select any packages?
where do u live, i can send u copy if u want...
edit: ... oh Sandton ...erm ... ask AlphA j/k
Of course.
Yes. No problems.
No. Just showed me a blank page.
Heh heh, thanks for the offer, but I should be able to get a copy in JHB.

Just installed Suse 10.1 and Vista on the following setup:
AMD Athlon 2800 XP
1 GIG RAM
Of which Vista is fine buuut I'm having a few issues with Suse (Ironic I know).
After it says loading grub and the initial loading screen it just goes black and nothing happens.
Any ideas?
I think there might be a problem with the formatting.
I want EXT2/3 but Suse has chosen it's default formatting and that's going to take a bit of adjustments.
I heart Suse though.

The last time I used SuSE (10.3), I too experienced graphical boot loader issues, yet when it eventually got around to the OS itself, it was fine. I simply tweaked the boot loader to use VGA mode, and all was well.
I didn't memorise those tweaks though, and the box that I installed SuSE on is no longer in my posession. I can tell you that I did copy the parameters from one of the other boot options though.
