Slow Windows XP startup

Post by BeLgaRiOn »

Hey guys.

I've recently just purchased a new PC, but it takes longer than expected to start up. It takes approxiamately 52 seconds to boot into Windows from the moment I switch my PC on.

Here are my specs:

P4 2.8GHZ 800FSB
Gigabyte i875PE Motherboard
512MB DDR 400 RAM
120GB Maxtor 7,200rpm Hard Drive with 8mb cache
Geforce FX5900

Any help would be dearly appreciated.

Thanks :)

52 seconds from the moment you press the power switch? That's not long dude...

Oh .. ok. Thanks guys.

It's just that it started up faster before. Maybe it's because I have other programs loaded now.
Thanks :)

Check your Startup folder and delete any apps you don't actually need to load on boot. Check the Run section of your registry, too.
