Poor Man's RAM Thread
Are you running on a budget?
Can you only afford Value RAM?
Shame...
Let the world see what awesome timings you are getting when you OC your RAM.
My RAM is Corsair Value Select DDR400, I have 2x 512 (Dual). At its stock speed of 400 i'm able to get these amazing timings 2.5-3-3-5-2
At 420 I get 2.5-3-3-6-3
Lets compare

i enjoy OCing with my Asus mobo. If i go too far then it justs sits there. Flick off the power leave it for 5 minutes, turn it back on a presto, a nice on screen error message, Then back into the BIOS change a few things and my pc is back up and running.

Yeah, that's a great feature...
Only problem is, my Asus mobo resets all settings in the BIOS, so I have to go and reset everything to what it should be!

Corsair Value ram overclocks like a beast. I recommend it to all.

Edit: Scroll down and read the posts. 1 guy has DDR510 @ 2.5-3-3-7 1T on the 512mb modules.
My stick is also great. 450mhz (DDR441) @ 2.5-3-3-8 2T on a budget mobo. I definately think it can go much further but I'll do that whenI have time to buy heat spreaders.

I run my 2GBs of Kingston KVR (value RAM) at DDR460 3-4-4-8 1T. Haven't even tried to tweak them or play with the timings yet. My 3 year old Samsung 256MB sticks could do DDR480 with relaxed timings so I'm sure these could do a bit more.

Oh you lucky sun of guns.
My mobo doesn't let me change the timings (and I'm too scared to OC)

I've used the machine as it is with the timings for a day now but I'm also OC'ing my CPU from 2500+ to 3200+. So I have to either clock my RAM to 2.5 or clock my CPU to 2500+ to run it stable when playing games, else for working in Windows, the PC runs fine. Haven't played with the RAM volts yet, so I think if I can do that, it should run fine at 3200+ and 2-3-3-6. I'll try it tomorrow cause I haven't got the time now, then I'll run memtest and post the valid results...cYcLIc wrote:1 more for Corsair VS 512mb. Keep pushing baby. I don't wanna push mine to much as I have a Value mobo. Is it memtest86+ stable for at least 8 hours.johankirsten wrote:UPDATE:johankirsten wrote:Corsair ValueSelect 2 * 512MB DDR400:
