3.5G faster than broadband!

Post by bushy8ones »

Not sure if this topic even belongs here, a mod can move it if it doesn't.

3.5G, is expected to deliver data between 4 and 8 mbps, allowing users to browse Web pages faster on their cell phones than broadband users can do today on their personal computers.

is this even possible? this is GREAT news for people like me who are looking to take out a new contract. :D
all i have to do is wait a lil longer.

Yeah and it also cost 3.5 times more than convensional broadband. Not worth it imho.

True, but u cannot say its faster than broadband. Standard ADSL has a download throughput of 8Mbps, its just that Telkom does not allow this, . them pigs

At 8Mbit/s you'd use up your 3GB cap in 50 minutes. Telkom would then suspend your account because you are "abusing the system".

Hong Kong offers a 1000MBit/s internet connection. Shows how far behind we are (1000x).

Is the high price due to telkom again or is it due to the celluar companys trying to imitate telkom

Yeah, damn ridiculous... 3G and 4G is definitely the way to go - especially if Vodacom and MTN leave some interesting loopholes (read 'free internet') exposed ;-)

Lol > "my first post"
How embarrassing...

Yip - well 4G is in the consumer testing phase in certain parts of Asia, and it's astounding the speeds that they get. What I dont understand is how a phone can handle download speeds of anything more than 10mbit/sec at all! Must be some pretty decent technology in those phones...
