Water Cooling - Starter Kit

Post by MadMike »

Hi Guys,

I know this topic has been exhuasted so lets make it short and sweet.

I dont overclock too much, so I want something that will drop temps (not drastically), look good in my case and not break the bank.

My choice would be <FlameKit On> Thermaltake's new Big Water 745 </FlameKit Off>

Thank for any suggestions
MM

AAAAHHHH!!!! DONT BUY THERMALTAKE!!!!!!

Man, how many times is this going to be said?! I think someone should put a huge banner on the forums somewhere telling everyone that they shouldn't even ASK about thermaltake junk.

You'd be better off cooling your stuff with mashed potatoes than with thermaltake's useless water cooling.

Where's Carly? He will tell you everything you DON'T wanna know about TT.

Sorry I tend to disagree

http://www.overclockercafe.com/Reviews/ ... 5/pg4.html

The Bigwater 745 ran the CPU 17'c cooler than the stock cooler.

Ag dude, GO AND BUY THERMALTAKE THEN.

There have been 5 million other people on this forum that have said that thermaltake is useless, so by all means, buy it. You ask for some advise, i give it. That's all. If you want TT junk, buy it, it'll be a very expensive lesson that you'll have to learn the hard way, just as i did. I would rather cool my hardware with heatsinks made out of my dog's hair than with TT. :)

Ok instead of giving a "DONT BUY IT JUST BECAUSE" reply, just explain to me the problems you had in the past and I will be more than willing to take your advise, advise like just dont buy it is quite useless!

poor dog ;)

Tt is a good entry level, it would be better if we could all spend R2000 on warer cooling but sadly it aint in most guys' budget to do so.

I showed you my temps and that was on the BW120 and it only cost me R650

To each his own and I wouldn't mind getting what DJV got but if you are on a budget Tt would be better then none.
The 745 seems to have a nice radiator with dual fans pretty nice.

Else speak to DJV to get some of them dog's hairs or the mash potatos.

im with MadMike DJV, instead of brand bashing rather give us real reasons why we shouldnt use it...

I'm here, at least there is someone who said it first, but JasonHK will also tell you, the water pumps pack up after a while, the reservoirs leak, and are poorly constructed, I think your better off buying the cool wave 3 kit if you want a cheap cooling kit, or a second hand astek water chill.

Carly,

Thanks for the <b>constructive</b> feedback, I will do as you suggest and look for another cooling kit ie cool wave 3. Last thing I need are leaks in my setup 8O

Or you could go the coolermaster aquagate mini, pre-assembled kit with radiator tubing everything straight outta the box!

I'd recommend Koolance products, been using them for a couple years now and had no trouble whatsoever!

You guys can't say ALL TT products are bad. Their PSU's are notoriously bad, but I'm not so sure about the other products, I've seen some good quality cases etc.

Sorry i wasn't here to give "constructive" advice, i went to class. I had an Aquarius 3 at one stage, and my temps actually went up after installing it. It was useless. The thermal paste supplied was even worse, not containing ANY silver. Sick.

Just stay away from TT. Futs has some nice temps, he told me a few days ago, and i have no idea how he gets them, but he's one of the lucky few.

I don't own any TT stuff, and don't plan to...

Just saying, it can't possibly all be crap!

Well here's an example of how my Koolance stuff runs.

I have a 2500+ clocked at 3200+. My water cooling is hooked up to the CPU, Northbridge and X800XT PE. Idles under 40C and max load I've seen is 48C... My X800XT PE idles at 37C and load 42C. 8)

Some of the TT cases are good looking, i must admit, but only a few. The Tsunami is probably the best looking. The Tsunami Wikid is running is my old one, i enjoyed it, but airflow was not too good.

Thermaltake's "big-leak" watercooling setup  - yeah, I've seen a few complaints accross the web.

They have good cases though ja. Check-out the new Eureka.

What the hell dude...

Actually I couldn't care less, I have water cooling because my PC is on all day and night and I want it quiet. The temps are good and I have a quiet PC, all I want... Maybe it's what you do, but I don't stare at my temps saying OMF what nice temps I have.
