ftp is an internet protocol just like http. http = hyper text transfer protocol, ftp = file transfer protocol. FTP is faster for downloading files. Closing the browser while downloading depends on how you're downloading the file from FTP.. eg are you using Internet explorer or a 3rd party FTP client program?

yes you are downloading. you are still routing through the isp. you can close the ie window as long as you are using a download manager to download the file. you are connected to the internet while you are downloading the file.

I got my Win Explorer open, and the ftp site is connected at my IE inside the WE.
Hold up, i got no way telling that its still downloading; no manager, but every time i refresh WinExplorer the file size increase.
The box that indicates the copying progress, has
disappeared

Well if you use FTP through Win explorer you shouldn't close it.

Bad connection. Heavy Traffic. Distance. Could be any number of things. When in doubt, blame Telkom.

I'm voting for either a 3 disc game, like Splinter Cell, or else some linux distro
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.
