About this 3Gb cap that has everyone up in arms:
Does the cap apply as well to simple website browsing, streaming and multiplayer gaming? Does it apply to IRC?
the 3gb cap is on total information sent or recieved by your pc, so anything done over the net, even webrowsing slowly adds up to eventually hit the 3gb cap
But, I have heard rumours that the cap only applies to data downloaded through specific ports.
From what I've heard, the cap doesn't apply to web browsing.
remember international only
I just got capped.......
I can still download at great speeds and play online games but only in SA international is so bad I can't even connect to MSN to chat to my Mom and Dad in Canada

Agree with skunkymunky - you heard wrong. Telkom measure all traffic, whether incoming or outgoing - once you hit 3Gb total, your SA speeds aren't affected, but your international speeds are - until the first of the following month.
Be polite, professional and have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
The 3gig cap sounds like a bunch of ****, I hate telkom, why can't they make it non web-browsing and stuff.....I know that if I had a 3gig cap and I had ADSL I would've reached it 3-6days in the beginning of the month.
We have ADSL at work and went over the cap in the first week. This month sucked big time. Previously when we went over it wasnt to bad, but now, I cant even visit page3 or any other international sites. I hate telkom.
A few companies I've spoken to have an option to get an additional 3GB once the limit has been reached. One company that does it is http://www.syrex.co.za/ although I think TradePage does it to, you just have to ask em.
