Which toothpaste is pure white?

Post by DAE_JA_VOO »

Believe it or not, this DOES have something to do with modding, so mods, please don't move it.

So, i've been looking around for acrylic polish, and i was reading a How-To on Casemodgod, as it turns out, TOOTHPASTE is perfect for polishing/buffing your plexi to give it that laser-cut look.

The problem is that you need toothpaste that's pure white and smooth, no granules or anything like that. I use aquafresh, which has like six colours or something.

Any suggestions on white toothpaste guys?

"Directions for use: Brush thoroughly twice a day. Do not swallow. Children aged 6 years and under should use a pea-sized amount and brush under adult supervision."

You think it applies to acrylic too?

Ooops...So many accidents...so little time

Post by WiK1d »

Well...I was bored ok...

Here is my test subject...I really didn't want to do it to that poor piece of perspex, but those bllody animals - that includes my little sis - kept irritation me!

As you can see i was busy making myself some chow for lunch

Image

Until the bloody cat came by and bumped me while I was spreading my bread with butter and splat! A bunch of butter fell on the plexi...nooooooo, i grabbed the knife and stabbed the cat! (NOT REALLY)

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/2442/image50am.jpg

Then when I finished my bread I made myself one of Woolies's nice Chok Chip muffins...walking to the room my sis bumped me and the muffin fell face down on the plexi, no, it can't be...a nice big choco smudge...

Image

While walking in the kitchen, drinking my coke and minding my own business the damn dog tripped me and I messed a fat puddle of sticky coke on the plexi...oooh, the dog wasn't wagging its tail after i kicked it

Image

Now it is soooo dirty i can hardly see through it!

Image

Image

Here is my workbech...I decided for the love of nature i'll clean the poor thing...after cleaning the blood on the floor!

Image

Then I decided to see what Plain Radox Luxury Hand Soap can do...

Image

Soooo...it looks kinda clean...well, nearly perfect!

Lets see what Some Colgate Fresh Confidence Xtreme Red Gel can do...

Image

After washing and drying it it looks like this

Image

So you can do the math...all difference toothpaste is gonna make is the smell of your case!

Man, this toothpaste trick actually works. I'm too lazy to take pics, but you'll see it on my mod, i should be ordering hardware tomorrow, so keep your eyes on my thread guys, some modding action is gonna REALLY start. The modding i've done up until now is nothing in comparison to what's to come!

How did you apply the toothpaste? I did a test with the buffing wheel on my Einhell pencil grinder in the week on the screen of an old cellphone, and it screwed the screen up something terrible when I applied some pressure!

Have you ever considered using car-polish paste - its just as pure -white with no particles at all.../
And i'm not talking about the paste u get in the motoring section of your nearest supermarket - i'm talking about the paste that you can only get at a auto-paint retailer!
Its actually 100% better than the stuff in the shops and is also 50% cheaper too!
Unless of course, your tooth -paste and it's minty after-scent does work???

There's a much easier way to polish the edges of plexi, and it looks 100x better ;)

Um... I think you were meant to use pure white toothpaste.

I enjoyed the experiment though. All those spillages were mighty convenient :D
