Cool!

EDIT: I think I made the most useless comment in my life there...

But anyways, I thought SA was not anywhere near faults, hence there couldn't be any earthquakes in SA... :?:
Was there really a tremor in Gautengaleng?

Yip, I felt it at work here in the south of Joburg. It measured 3.2 on the R scale. Originated from the east rand - thats where most of the gold mines are.
Scary shyte...

What caused it? Duh......it was the Americans. I mean we caused the tsunami, the quake in Pakistan, and indirectly (or directluy) Katrina.

Anyway you do not have to be on a fault line.

Maybe God is getting you back for DeBeers.

 no the only thing America is at fault for is everything. They are the ones that pushes their political issues down other's throats.

Yeah that and El Nino

Just joking. Must be a mine. Nothing else in the area that can cause it unless there has always been a dormant volcano in the area. In that case I'll be moving do KZN tomorrow

I figured that at least I'll die watching a good movie.

It musta been a mine or summing! cos There is a hell of a lot of minnig that goes on around JHB! that is the most logical cause and mines have been responsible for previous tremors! Thats what i rate! Would be nice to find out what really caused it!

I watched Narnia last night. Minus the tremor, though.

If you had to die watching a movie, which one would you pick? :!:

How powerful was this "tremor"? Could it have caused any damage?

IIRC not the first time this has happened in the east... happened once or twice while i was still local there...

also a major issue with sinkholes, etc, out there along with the permanent underground coal fires... not the most stable of areas...

still not a pleasant experience...

then again the coast has also had one or two, (quite far out), which are a trifle more concerning ... but not recently...

I'm a bit confused. SA seems to be located in a place of high tectonic stress and tremors seem to be frequent. Why is this a surprise.

I guess I should't be confused as I live in a place where people make fun of Californians and their earthquakes all the while not knowing that the "big one" is likely to hit them.
