Trace? What do you mean EXACTLY?

Do you mean see their IP address, see where they are in the world, what??

You can only trace people by their IP addresses, and then consulting with the ISP who that IP belongs to, to find out who the user is. Why? Did you do something illegal? That's probably the police knocking at your door now! :P

Yeah, but unfortunately it isnt always that simple since ISPs use dynamic IP addressing to save money, Alot of people will then use the same address, one person logs off and another comes on assuming the firsts ip address! But they should still be able to tell who logged on at a certain time!

Yip Lordrage, they should have logs of the usernames and times they logged on, and at what time a certain IP address belonged to that person.

Good Morning Everyone. ISPs are assigned IP addresses, And they stay the same. When you log on to your ISP, your ISP assigns you a dynamic IP which is only valid on this side of you ISP. When a site says that they logged your IP, they actually get your ISP's IP. The ISP Logs who logged on when and what IP they have assigned you in that instance.
Just some insight.
