inf3ct10n wrote:hmm, what does a grill like that cost to make? coz im in need of one of those for my Triple Airplex Evo
For a dual 120MM one it's about R30.
Skidd wrote:LOL Wik I think you should go into some production there :-)

AC Wik1d :P
Haha no, the laser place will kick my bottom :P
Samaya wrote:Ja the Blue looks better but only cause its brighter... lol. Anyway, that rad grill is going to look awesome. Can't wait to see the the end product of that!
True, but I just wanted to show you that it isn't UV Reactive Plexi
DAE_JA_VOO wrote:We were at the laser place today. That grille DOES look awesome, but it's a bit too big :(

Wik will update for you guys :)
Yeah, it does look great, but it doesn't fit perfectly, but I do have a solution
DoOb wrote:

Measure TWICE Cut once
It's not that easy, you have to work with 0.XX millimeters. Not a millimeters.
DAE_JA_VOO wrote:Hey he can just remake it, no big deal :)
Yeah, but I don't feel like it :P

Anyways

Updates FTW. Unless they suck, like this one.

So me and Ettienne went to the Laser Place today, to test cut the mobo panel and radgrill.

And here's what was made :)

The Motherboard Panel

Image

I have to make the text wider, there's barely a hole in there :(

Image

The snazzy radgrill

Image

On my AC Ryan Radgrill, now here's the problem, as the thing became wider the plexi moved more out of place from the original, so at the last few strikethroughs you can see that the plexi isn't exactly underneath the rad grill. But that's no problem, I'm just going to cut a black radgrill, and use that in the place of the AC Ryan one.

Image

Then my motherboard

Image

Image

Then the plexi ontop of the board.

Image

Image

Now there's a LOT of measurement problems. I felt so crap after I test fitted it, it sucked guys :( you have got no idea.

The PCI slot is too low
The top corner thing is too high
The PCI and GFX cards have a little PCB piece at the left side of the board and that pushed into the plexi
The northbridge block holes were too small
The ATX and 8 Pin wasn't positioned properly
The SATA Port hole has to move left

I'm going to have to lower the plexi even more, so the following changes has to be added:

Bigger holes for the ramslots must be made so that both slots are open
The CPU block hole has to change from a rounded square to an oval
I have to make holes for the high capacitors and mosfet coolers in the top right corner of the board.

So yeah, that completely sucked guys, but yeah, I have to make this panel, somehow :D

Cheers guys, enjoy your evenings.

Hey dude, it's trial and error. I can't even remember how many updates like this one i had to make for Epiphany. That update that just sucks and makes you lose motivation. Dont worry dude, try again, and trust me, once you get that cover RIGHT, you'll see how it was worth it :)

Yeah, I didn't spend a great amount of time on it, but it's just that it's going to be REALLY hard to get it perfect. But thanks for the motivation dude :)

Wow guys, long time no update, but there was some work done :D

I also decided on a new mobo cover, that will be explained a bit later

So here's my radgrilles

Test fitting them to see what effect they will make

Image

Image

I sanded the edges of the grill on the left, and the one on the right is just as it would be straight from the lasercutter. Left looks so much better. I used my while LED fans to test it out, and saw it's making too much light.

Image

Image

Decided to use some LED's instead

Image

Image

Here's my green grill

Image

oh noes, here's two :( No problem though

Image

Here's the black grille

Image

Then I lasered the top panel for the case, sadly blue plexi, but I can fix that :D

Image

For some obscure reason the laser did some cutting on the outside of the hole :\ Won't be a problem though

Image

Then all the goodies fitted to one another, rad at the bottom

Image

Image

And then in darkness (Looks MUCH better in real life :) )

Image

Image

That's it for now, need to find some longer allen cap screws, and fit the fans with the raddie. Then I need to get 6 Super Bright While LED's which I will mount under the grilles, will show you guys how that works a bit later, camera's batteries are dead. Need to go buy some new ones.

The Blue panel will get some carbon vinyl applied. If anyone was wondering :)

Next step, starting my new mobo cover.

Cheers guys, sleepy time
