Just watercooled my SFF, check it out.

Post by DAE_JA_VOO »

Okay, so while i was on holiday, i realised how hot my SFF PC gets. I then remembered the useless Thermaltake Aquarius 3 water cooling setup i had lying at home. So i decided that when i got back to PTA, i would water cool my SFF.

Here are a few pics before the water cooling.

These are, obviously, pictures of the machine while it was still cooled by air. I'll only be cooling the CPU in this thread though.

Here i've put on the waterblock:

I didn't have any AS5, i had to make due with thermaltake's thermal compound, unfortunately.

Okay, now how the Aquarius 3 works, is that the Res, pump and rad are all in an external unit, and the "cool" water is forwarded to the PC through a PCI bracket. Here i've fitted the bracket and connected the pipes.

Here's a shot of the External unit open.

And another one. (Sorry about the finger!! :D)

Then when i started testing, i ran into a hickup. The unit was leaking out one of the radiator's inlet\outlets. But on the third try, i cut the tubing an inch shorter and fitted 2 clamps, then the leaking stopped:

Then i put my 6800GT back in  and tested again. All worked well.
Here's another shot from the side, 68GT back in:

And the final shot of the unit closed. You'll see 2 gaps in the from panel, those are where temperature monitors used to be. I was too lazy to fit them. I have the joys of speedfan.

My Temperatures haven't dropped at all.

What a waste of time.

thats why with watercooling you have to be careful what you select - but good job of putting it all together - its at least a bit of a practice run for when you do your proper setup with the danger den stuff
