I did some modding yesterday and fixed up the metal work. All that still needs to be cut in the alu, are the holes for the power connectors. AND THEN ALL THE BLOODY METAL WORK WILL BE DONE!!! I will be so happy when that is done. I cant believe its taken me 8 months to get to only here. Luckily Perspex is easier to work with. So after the power connectors are fitted I'll start finishing the perspex parts. I'll post some pix of the finished metal work later or tomorrow for your perusal. :)

Ok so this will be a big update as I finished the side panels. And even though I say it myself, It is looking Mighty fine!!!

This is just while I was making it. The side still has the plastic wrapping/sticker thing
Image

This pic gives a good impression of what the finished thing will look like.
Image

The reflection you see is a bucket on the floor. Not a cup inside the case...
Image

From the side. The dust particles have been cleaned out now...
Image

The final pic which completes my case...
Image

So what do you think? I still have to do a lot of detail stuff But I more inspired now than when I started on this case. I think there will be more regular updates now. I also weighed the case: 4.5kg without the fan that you see.

Its a black purple colour. The sun is just messing with the colours though. And no you haven't missed anything :) .

I had a little set back. I got my 12V and 5V lines crossed when I connected my LCD. Guess what happened... I am now one LCD less for my mod. I feel like a complete spanner  Anyway I'll try get another one from the suppliers.

I got my new LCD but it has a yellow green background colour. I have finished planning the wiring in my case and will start working on it as soon as I have some free time.

Samaya its looking really good man, specially the flip open style.
You planning on putting something like shock absorbers on the outer part, I'd hate for it to come down on my fingers when in the air like that.

also that red plexi is looking snazzy!!

I was thinking of putting a gas lifter in there to keep it open when I open it and it'll sound cool when it opens up. I just don't know where I am going to fit it.

Ok so being a long weekend which the wife forgot about (hehehe lucky me) I didn't have to go away somewhere, had to take her somewhere, had to buy groceries or any of the normal household things. I had all the free time I could use. So guess what I did. Yip I modded 8) :D :D

I took some pics with my phone but it came out looking horrible. You cant even see what I did. I'll post some pics of what you can see.

So I did some drilling
Image\

And some tapping
Image

And some screwing
Image

And done
Image

I also made the DVD drives mountings, the LCD's cover and did some wiring but these are the pictures that didn't come out to well. You can barely see the fans. It was just too dark when I took the pics. I'll charge the cameras battries tonight and then take pictures with the flash.

I took some pictures of my mod again to show you some of the progress I have made. The Bonnet is almost done. I still need to do some wiring for the LCD, the buttons and connect the power for the fans and front panel. Also need to do some plexi work on the inside of the bonnet but that will be a nice surprise.

Anyway on to the pix. This is the DVD drives mounting tray. Ignore the LONG screws sticking out the back, I didn't have enough short screws so just used the long ones.

I heat shrinked the fan wires

Now being just such a nice guy and all, I have decided to give you lot a look at the ALMOST finished outside of my mod. Enjoy...

So what you think?

Danm... I've been trying to mod but I have run out of modding area. We are building on new parts to the house and every available space has been used to store stuff while were building. It totally sux!!! The building should be done by middle December and hopefully there won't be any delays after that :| :| :xmas:

I have space again!!! Woot woot. Look for some small updates after the weekend. I might just unpack the old dremmel and start cutting plexi again. Or I'll do the wiring. Either way something WILL happen to the mod!!!

Sweet!
Isn't it difficult though to picture what you want you mod to look like when ur building it from scratch?
I wouldn't have the patience for a huge project like this! I like how it isn't just a plain rectanlge though, makes it interesting, especially the front.
Excellent idea, keep on going!
