Post by pretoriusk »

I've got the folling rig

Purepower 560w psu
Asus A8N Sli Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 3800+
MSI NX 6800 GT 256 MB
2x 160 GB SEAGATE BARACUDA SATA DRIVE'S
1GB KINGSTON HYPER X (2.5 3 3 8) PC 3500
ZALMAN 9500 COOLER

Everything is stock, my 3D Mark 2001 score is 20514, why so low?

hmmm, dat is awfully low, maybe, are u using the rite 3dmark 01 version, isnt there a SE version, try that

Your PC should actually reflect more on 3dmark 03 and 05, try them and see wot u get, also try super pi and see what u get there, coz if ure results are bad then maybe u thers something wrong with the hardware!!!

ya like jpm sed, 3dm01 is more processor dependant and the later ones give a more accurate representation on the systems perfromance as a whole.

3D Mark01se is GPU and CPU clockspeed dependant. That's why a 9800XT scores easily more on 3D Mark01se, then a 6800GT which would kill the 9800XT when it comes to 3DMark05 and 03...... I got 23K with my 6800GT (AGP) and a 4000+ CPU....

That score is about right for a 6800GT in 3DMark2001 (Direct X 8 benchmark) 26K no. Try 3DMark03 / 05 as suggested.

Yeah! teh 6800 series do not perform in this area, my old 9800XT once got 21000, but my old 6800LE only got about 17000 fully unlocked :?

Even a 6600GT is quicker in 3dmark01 :P

Use the 03/05 :D

As Solo has said, 6800 = DX9 card, 3dM01 = DX benchie.

Close to 21k is ok for that setup, you should see very big gains just bumping up your cpu speed, but even when overclocked to the max, both gfx and cpu, it would be tough to try and get more than 26500-27000.

Your system is more capable of producing the goods in 3dM03, and 3dM05.

Keep us posted.
