Hey Jason...nice work!

I too have the 3700+, but the socket 754 varient. So yours is also at 2.4Ghz stock right? Whats the difference between our CPU's apart from the memory bandwith and the socket? My voltage is sitting at 1.55V...is that right? What should my CPU, RAM, and AGP card's volts be at?

My CPU sits around 32 degrees idle and 55 is the highest I have seen it go (all on air with the Thermaltake Silent Boost). Are these temps ok?

The temps above at taken with a Hardcano 12...my motherboard reports temps that are waaaaaay off (like 72 under load). I have seen a test where they put a thermal probe right in the middle of a CPU heatsink and they found that my mobo reports temps 15 degrees too high. I really recommend you dont use your mobo to give you your temps. Tyr get a physical means of recording temperatures.

Sorry about all the questions, but I would really like to know more about my CPU and all :-)

You apparently have too much many to waste.
Very good, and now crank up the Vcore and we could get something worthwhile :P

You're running a ClawHammer, the first 64-bit AMD core, still on .13 micron process. The San Diego is a new and is spiced up Venice core, practically speaking the San Diego is to the Venice as is the ClawHammer to the Newcastle, kinda, the former ships with 1MB of cache.

Those temps you have are perfectly normal for a 3700+ in the 754 variant, since it's build on a 0.13nm process it will run hotter. Mine is stock @ 200 * 11 = 2200Mhz

Your volts are correct. 1.55 is right, on your hsf, i think the stock volts are 1.50 but im not really sure.

RAM should be set @ 2.7-2.8 for generic ram and the other stuff..But really depends on what RAM you have..

AGP cards volts just leave at stock. :/ dont touch them..

vCore is 1.4 stock afaik..or think..hehe ... pumped o 1.6 on water..but read that AMD says 1.62v's on stock hsf is even fine.. so ill try that tiny bit more to break into 27 seconds PI. :D

939 CPU stock is 2200mhz

Yours is 754 = 2400 Mhz..cause 754 socket is slower.

And mine also has SSE3 instruction set.

SSE3 is exactly the opposite of the RISC idea, introducing more useless things that only get used by some ripoff expensive software...

How much performance increase does the 1MB cache on the San Diego 3700+ socket 939 provide over the 512MB cache on the Venice 3500+ socket 939?

The 1Mb cach helps alot in gaming. There is a definit advantage with 1mb of cach to the 512kb.

It's about 3-58% better in games (as they are also GPU realted) but pure CPU intensive program are about 7% + faster..ripping,encoding. etc.. :D
