Document conversion.

Post by zippy »

Hi there.

I am running Redhat Linux V9.

I wondering if anyone knows of a utility/utilities to changed files between a couple of formats.

The formats are PDF, excel and powerpoint. I need to convert the text and *only* the text contained within the files into a text document.

I found wvText to convert from word documents to text.

Many thanks for your help

With the pdf´s you´re going to be needing the full Acrobat suite, not just the reader, since you´re modifying the doc. Last time I checked Word and Excel had inbuilt functionality to save .xls and .doc files as .txt files.

Oops... just read you´re using Linux, so you prob. don´t have Excel, Word, etc... feel pretty dumbass now.

[ Edited by OnlyOneKenobi On Date
July 14, 2003 ]

Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth
And to make men slay each other.
To him was given a large sword.

Solution, Install Open Office from the RedHat9 Cd´s (or download the redhat rpm) its like a linux version of MS WORD/EXEL/POWERPOINT/etc, that should sort all your problems out.
