Anybody have a suggestion on another racing game that is more like the classics as I described above. I apologize if I am misusing this thread for my own devious gains.
GRID is an wasome racing game.Try that.
Thanks justinufo

Will definitely try GRID.

The reviews are not too positive, but hopefully tomorrow when I get it I'll see for myself. If this game really stinks I'll never pre-order any EA product again, well except for Crysis. Then next time I'll get Call of Duty instead. And does it still use dx9?

60 average on Metacritic and a 2.7 out of 10 as user reviews. I'm keen to try a demo, do anyone know if there is one available?
Maybe the classic will be a good option R400 for a DRM game with a global average of 60 score just doesn't look like cake to me.

On the other hand there is a game that is getting decent reviews that I honestly never expected. The reviews claim one of the big things wrong with the game is the timing with a handfull of AAA titles.. The game in question VV

Played this new NFS and all I have to say its krap!!!, it is like slap dash work by EA, juts take Most Wanted, change it, add some Carbon, and there u have it, pure krap. You can actually see that the tracks are parts of most wanted and carbon and Underground 2. Im really disappointed. GRID is way better in all aspects and even Test Drive Unlimited is better. I would go as far as to say that NFS: Carbon was way better. This NFS just does not have proper detailing and gameplay :( , I have it maxed out on detail and it looks pathetic.

Somebody tell EA make a NFS: Underground 3 :D

You know what is bad about this game? well the track pops up while you drive... In other words, while you think you're going to go straight, the track pops up and you have to turn with no warning.

Also the shadows in the game actually move fast while you're driving.

And if you want to see the map of the area you have to pause the game and then select map and then wait while it loads.
The point of freeroam has also been defeated since there is no map and an annoying "press Tab" thing that flashes and drives you insane.

One more thing is the car selection. Personally I hate the selection. There is no Subaru!!!!

I doubt whether Kalahari.net would at this stage take it back for a full refund... And then this game will have to be VERY bad for it to be more boring than chemistry

Well the racing itself i love, its just these little glitches that gets one down. But doing highway races and outrunning the cops is great fun.

Also I got a few CTD errors ... :(

Well, I haven't played it yet, it's still installing, but thus far all I can say is: Avoid Kalahari.net! It took them 3 days to deliver it to me, and I am in a main centre... :?

Is it a "dont send" error? I get those often in the game then i loos my progress :( I don't know what causes it. Sometimes when it loads the next race it just hangs.

Yeah I couldn't even open the game. I got the "a critical error has occured and the program needs to shutdown" or something like that. The only way I can run this game is to install it on a clean setup of XP.

Now to comment on my first 10minutes of play:
I have to say WOW. This game sucks!

There is no real main menu, you start the game immediatly in a race. (Kinda like those arcades...)
At first I thought that the graphics was just set to low (like most games' default settings), but when I checked, it was on FULL! Most Wanted looks better! I had to put everything on medium, and the game is still not really smooth. Even if my frame rate is about 35fps av, it's not a smooth 35fps. If I put everything on high, it drops to about 22. I can run crysis on high, and after a minute of loading all the functions, crysis runs smoothly on my pc.
I don't have a clue what is going on in the game. Form reviews I gathered that I'm working for the cops, but the game doesn't give me a clue. After each race I get "wheelman" points, but for who the hell am I racing?
The bugs are actually very funny. I hit the wall, and get points for "close call". I hit traffic and get points for "near hit".
Even for me it's too %^&$ easy. I like to race against the cars in front of me, not those 300miles behind. And why do I beat custom Audi TT's with an old stock nissan 240sx???

But at least I like the handling. A lot. It's certainly not realistic, but I love sliding around everything and stopping dead from 300-0 in 1 second
That's about all I like, for now.

@ EA: Major FAIL.

Does the track also magically just appear out of nowhere for you?
I agree there is something wrong with the graphics. You run it high but keep hitting that 1fps even if it is just for a second for no apparent reason ?

I apologise - I have not read the whole thread. I have the Wii version - and love it. I bought the steering wheel but find that really difficult to use. It is just a practice thing or did I waste my money. Find the nunchuck much easier to use.

No, actually, the track doesn't appear out of nowhere for me. :?: What I do get is rather smooth gameplay, en then suddenly it freezes for a second. Really annoying.
This game is really funny. When I first launched it, it was all freezy and stuttering, but now it's getting much better  :?: I don't know how this is possible. I can even now run it at 4xAA without tearing out too much hair.

@ Tribble
I must say, IMO Prostreet needed a steering wheel, but not undercover. You can go around corners @ 200km/h again, so no need for precise steering needed to go around a track. I can actually imagine that a wheel might be difficult...

As I play through it now, I start ignoring the really annoying parts of the game. The driving really is great fun. Just the races are still too vrek easy! But I now actually now for who I work

But I still think I'd rather spent my money on Call of Duty 5. The NFS series now have a history of rushing their games and to disappoint. The COD series is every time an upgrade

 @ the typical EA problems...

I'm sorry but something with EA just doe snot add up, they want us to use very strict DRM measures to protect their intellectual property however the game's that get released 97% of the time are riddled with bugs, to simple, lack lustre graphics and are just not worth the amount of money they are asking for or the DRM they are implementing.

From now on I will not buy an EA game unless it scores a 8 or higher in the majority of reviews...

Man they are stupid! I enjoy asking them these questions, so I can have something to laugh about.

My goal is to get them to find a way to fix the problem that I can't run the game on my current installation of XP.

When I first wrote to them, I explained to them exactly what the problem is and that I couldn't run the game on my current XP setup. I also attached the dxdiag.txt they always want, and a screenshot of the error message in a zip file. The guy couldn't understand how to open the zip file and get everything from there. So I explained to him where to find it.
Then (like usually) he said that I should clear my temp folder. I know this won't make a difference, but whatever, I did it and it didn't work. So I told him this. He also asked if the game had worked before  I just told him I couldn't run it!
Then, in his next reply, he asked me if I got any error messages  I attached it already! WTH??? In the same reply, he again told me to clean out the temp folder, right after I told him it didn't work!
I can actually understand why EA games have gone downhill, it's because their "tech support" acts like this... Are all americans retards, or just the EA ones? :?
