Question: When you play the game, are there 1000000 people around you like in an MMORPG? Or is it you alone, like in the diablo 2 game.
Maybe there is a "flee market" type area where you can sell your stuff to other players?

SP is alone, MP is max of 4 in a party

they scrubbed PvP in order to hit launch with an eye to releasing PvP later...

Yea i read about that. Last i heard you can buy and sell ingame items for real money and blizzard keeps some % of the money you gain. Sounds interesting.

Tribble, Sam & Max is a point & click adventure game. A lot of the core gameplay revolves around solving puzzles, and that's why you pixel hunt for clues and scan environments for objects. It's slow but satisfying.

Diablo on the other hand, is a dungeon crawler and the core gameplay is combat. the clickclickclickclickclick happens because you're causing pain, and then looting bodies. It is frantic. The perspective you take means you don't really use keys to move your character around, intsead you use the mouse and that results in more clickclickclick. Kinda like moving units around in Starcraft.

That's probably what you read about :)
Wait...so you click?

Ok that doesn't sound so bad - so it is a button masher game. Mmm new mouse on standby maybe?

waaaaiit....

you play PC games that involve... waving your keyboard.... around?

uses pretty much the same number of clicks/keys as most other pc games..

slightly fewer, actually, given that the game is isometric.... much like the first two...

Then why is everyone telling me that it is a point and click game? Just tell me it is like Serious Sam, or Uncharted, or Starcraft or The Witcher (the last two are not button mashers) ..... and I am sure D33 said you click a lot!

I only wave my keyboard around when I cannot get the mozzie the normal way.

Thanks puppy - I am now looking forward to it. Acid says I must play 2 - is that necessary?

right so, a simple Starcraft 2 "conversion":

- instead of controlling multiple units, you are merely 1 individual character of whichever class you choose.
- instead of building units from a main base, you merely have 1 main "base" from which you can teleport to other places, once you have found the PORTALS at those places.
- you have 5 distinct "attacks/defenses/offenses" each assigned buttons: L-Mouse, R-Mouse, 1, 2, 3
- obviously you gather gold and weaponry/armor like you would minerals in SC2.
- moving is basically constant moving of the mouse to where you want to go, and clicking with L-Mouse button.

there is no need to play D2, unless you really are in a hurry to get a feel of D3 before it gets released. then you can maybe play just part of the 1st ACT to get the feel and how things work. this though won't all help as D3 has some changes in major areas of D2. ie. in D2 you had to manually choose to what you want to spend your SKILL POINTS, whereas in D3 it gets auto assigned.

and when you do something like co-op with friends, the mobs you encounter are both stronger and more in numbers.

It is the co-op that frightens me. How addictive is gaming with other people?

Lol, the point I was trying to get across is that genre labels exist for a reason. If I told you that a game was an FPS you'd have a good idea of what to expect. Dungeon crawlers are notoriously clicky and gaming journalists continuously poke fun at the fact . That's what I assume Tribble was exposed to and why she thinks it's a point and click game. :dontknow:

well personally I enjoy just playing by myself, but I can believe there are others that will enjoy playing with friends more.

most people I think will want to do a solo run through normal 1st, but I can be mistaken.

co-op is definitely fun and the changes made to it, like where people would get same percentage of loot and every1 will get a weapon drop ie, will definitely entice the masses to play this mode. no more "1 guy gets advantage above others"

TRibble, we could play together, seeing as I have very little experience of the multiplayer thing.

I tried the Beta for the first time last night in single player mode, but found it unplayable choppy. Going to try reducing graphical prettiness.
